Terminal Improvement Project: Airport Open House

The community is invited to join the Airport for an informational open house regarding the Terminal Improvement Project on Tuesday, July 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Direct Relief. This meeting is an opportunity for the public to discuss the proposed improvements and provide input during the Conceptual Design phase. Airport staff and members of the consultant team will be available to take comments, answer questions, and discuss points of interest.

Junior Lifeguard Competition Coming to East Beach


The Junior Lifeguard Fiesta Invitational Competition returns to East Beach this Friday, July 14. The event, hosted by the City Parks and Recreation Department, is expected to draw a large crowd as California agencies from Newport Beach to Santa Cruz go head to head. The event is free, and the community is invited to attend and cheer on our Santa Barbara Junior Lifeguards.

City’s Bilingual Public Outreach Coordinator Spearheads Effort to Provide Multilingual Emergency Response Training at National CERT Conference


At the recent 2023 National Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Conference, the City's Bilingual Outreach Coordinator, Liliana Encinas, played a pivotal role in promoting diversity and language access in disaster preparedness. For the first time, the conference introduced multilingual sessions, graduating 62 new CERT instructors and Ms. Encinas played a pivotal role.

'Summer Nights' Free Teen Program Moves to Eastside


After three weeks on the Westside, 'Summer Nights,' a free teen program hosted by the City Parks and Recreation Department, is moving to the Eastside for another three weeks of fun. Teens ages 12-17 are invited to enjoy music, food, arts, sports, and games each week. Upcoming activities include karaoke, rock climbing, free bike repairs, a movie screening, and art workshops.
