City Celebrates 50 years of Sister Cityhood with
Puerto Vallarta
In a recent ceremony, the City celebrated 50 years of Sister Cityhood with Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and re-affirmed the arrangement in Council Chambers at City Hall. Mayor Randy Rowse was joined by representatives from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the Mexican Consul in Oxnard, and the Sister Cities groups from Santa Barbara and Puerto Vallarta.

Police Department Names
Interim Police Chief

Commander Marylinda Arroyo will be serving as the Interim Police Chief for the City of Santa Barbara. A permanent Police Chief is expected to be announced within the next few weeks. Commander Arroyo was the first female to be promoted to the rank of lieutenant, captain and commander in the 122-year history of the Santa Barbara Police Department, and currently commands the field operations division.

Construction Notice:
Pavement Maintenance Project

Paving work will begin on multiple City streets next week. Castillo Street, Mission Street, Chapala Street, Micheltorena Street, Arrellaga Street, and the Fairview Overpass will receive full-width pavement grind and asphalt pavement overlay. Work is expected to last about two weeks.

A recruiting event will be held Thursday, July 21 at the Santa Barbara Hilton for Transportation Security Officer positions at the Airport.
