Fourth of July Celebration at the Waterfront

Celebrate Independence Day with the annual Fourth of July Celebration at the Waterfront. Hosted by the City's Waterfront and Parks and Recreation Departments, the yearly tradition will transform the waterfront for a full day of family-friendly activities on Tuesday, July 4. Remember to be safe this holiday. The event is the only place where fireworks are legal in the City.

Concerts in the Park Series Returns to Chase Palm Park


The Concerts in the Park series begins this Thursday! The free, family-friendly summer tradition brings musical acts to the Great Meadow in Chase Palm Park every Thursday in July from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The community is invited to bring blankets, chairs, and picnics to enjoy an evening of free music along Cabrillo Boulevard.

Confetti is Litter


The use of confetti at Santa Barbara parades and festivals is growing, in both the number of events where confetti is used and the volume of confetti tossed. While confetti eggs or cascarones have long been a tradition at Santa Barbara’s Old Spanish Days, we are now seeing large bags of confetti being dumped on our sidewalks, streets, and parks during Summer Solstice, Fourth of July, Fiesta, and holiday parades and celebrations

Highway Construction to Impact Airport Access


Two separate Caltrans projects on Highway 101 and Route 217 are scheduled to begin construction on Wednesday, July 5. The traveling public can expect a full overnight closure of Route 217 on July 5 and 6 from 10 p.m.–6 a.m. Those traveling to Santa Barbara Airport are advised to use the Highway 101/Fairview Avenue exits or an alternate route to access the Terminal during this time. Both of these projects currently have a timeline of two years and will have periodic lane closures and detours throughout the construction period. Please allow for extra time to account for traffic delays when planning your arrival to the Airport.
