Fire and Police Commission Special Recruitment


The City is looking for individuals to fill an unscheduled vacancy on our Fire and Police Commission. This is an incredible opportunity to serve on the Commission and make a real impact in our community. This role will run through December 31, 2026, allowing you to be a key player in shaping the future of law enforcement oversight. The Commission actively works in collaboration with the Santa Barbara Police Department to improve transparency and strengthen understanding with the broader community. Applications are due Thursday, August 17.

Trolley Pilot Project 


The Santa Barbara South Coast Chamber of Commerce, Visit Santa Barbara, Downtown Santa Barbara, and the City have teamed up to launch the Santa Barbara Visitor Trolley pilot project. This innovative initiative gives both visitors and community members alike an accessible, convenient, and affordable way to explroe Downtown and the Funk Zone. Easily recognizable with its bright red color, the Visitor Trolley stands out as an open-air, ADA accessible transportation option. The Visitor Trolley runs Friday through Monday, now through Labor Day.

Celebrate National Night Out with the Police Department


Join the Police Department for National Night Out on Tuesday August, 1 at Mission Street Ice Cream & Yogurt. National Night Out is an annual campaign all over the US that aims to bring neighbors together, improve public safety, and build positive relationships with law enforcement. Stop by this fun community event, happening at the corner of De La Vina Street and West Mission Street and check out police cars and motorcycles, chat with officers, and of course, enjoy some delicious ice cream!

 Public Fitness Stations Installed in Parque de Los Niños


The Parks and Recreation Department has installed fitness equipment in Parque de los Niños. The lower westside neighborhood park now features two cardio climbers and a multigym with 8 different exercise stations for a full-body workout. The new equipment is designed for all fitness levels and features placards with suggested workouts and scannable QR codes directing to instructional videos.
