Unlocking Community Insights: Accessing Fire and Police Commission Data for Your Neighborhood's Safety

The Fire and Police Commission meets on the fourth Thursday of every month. Last month, the Commission received quarterly briefings from the Police Department and Fire Department related to their calls for service and incident reports. The Mission Strategies Report from the Police Department noted over 11k calls for service in the first quarter of the year and highlighted a 27.5% decrease in property crime. Did you know you have access to this data too? It’s available on the department’s website and can be accessed specific to your neighborhood through an interactive Community Crime Map.

Free Teen Program 'Summer Nights' Returns


A 6-week series of community events designed to bring local partners together to provide free activities for Santa Barbara's teens kicks off this Friday. Youth ages 12-17 can enjoy music, food, arts, sports, and games each week. This week's activities include a movie screening with free popcorn and pizza, pool table tournaments, and more.

Traffic Circulation Changes at Gillespie and Valerio Streets


As part of the Westside Community Paseos Project, a landscaped traffic diverter will be constructed at the intersection of Gillespe and Valerio Streets. This feature will reduce overall vehicular traffic volumes and speed on Gillespie Street so cyclists can share the roadway comfortably with vehicles. Unclaimed Checks Deadline


Checks issued to vendors and employees that have been uncashed for at least three years and are in excess of $15, will be voided and transferred to the City's General Fund on August 1. The purpose of this policy is to set in place a procedure for handling unclaimed properties as per the Government Code Sections 50050 et seq.
