Celebrate Fourth of July Safely

Personal and even "safe and sane" fireworks are dangerous and illegal in the City. If you are caught with fireworks the fine could be costly. Misdemeanor citations could be issued to those possessing or using personal fireworks within the City. The Police Department and Fire Inspectors are teaming up this year to monitor illegal fireworks by conducting active enforcement patrols over the holiday weekend. The only LEGAL fireworks are blasting off from the Waterfront during the official City Fourth of July Celebration, hosted by the Waterfront and Parks and Recreation Departments.

Sidewalk Vending Meeting to be Held on June 26


A community meeting on sidewalk vending is scheduled for Monday, June 26 at Casa Azteca at 6 p.m. The City invites the community to attend and participate in the discussions that will also include City staff from the Business Licensing Office and the County Department of Public Health.

Construction Continues on Gillespie Street

Children's Fiesta Parade Accepting Entries


The Children's Fiesta Parade has been a tradition for local families for over 90 years, with some participating over five generations. Families and groups of all sizes are invited to participate in this year’s parade, scheduled for Saturday, August 5. Participation is free, and ice cream is included! Entries must be submitted by July 7.

Cabrillo Pavilion Open House


Explore the recently renovated Cabrillo Pavilion during this week's Semana Nautica events on East Beach. The Parks and Recreation Department will host an Open House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, and Sunday, July 2. The events will include food trucks, raffles and prizes, free fitness classes, and guided tours of the facility. This is a great chance to see all the beachfront recreation center has to offer.
