New Vegetation Management Crew Begins Work in Honda Valley Park

A collaboration between the City Fire and Parks and Recreation Departments to improve the community's fire resilience continues with the hiring of a Vegetation Management Crew. The new crew will focus efforts on maintaining defensible space, reducing fuel loads, improving fire access roads, and removing invasive plant species across the City's parks and open spaces. The crew’s first project is currently underway in Honda Valley Park.

The Pink Patch Project is part of a worldwide breast cancer awareness campaign. SBPD’s participation gives us the opportunity to direct Pink Patch raised funds directly back to our Santa Barbara community. 100% of our Pink Patch sales will locally benefit the Breast Cancer Resource Center of Santa Barbara.

Trunk or Treat Returns

Join Parks and Recreation, SBPAL, and the Santa Barbara Youth Council for a free Trunk or Treat event. Families are invited to wear costumes, collect candy, and vote for their favorite decorated trunk. Local businesses and organizations looking to participate in this year’s event must submit their vendor registration form by 5 p.m. on Monday, October 16.

20th Annual Santa Barbara Harbor & Seafood Festival



Celebrate Santa Barbara Channel’s bounty and the fishermen who harvest it at the 20th Annual Santa Barbara Harbor & Seafood Festival on Saturday, October 21. Timed to celebrate the opening of lobster season, the Festival showcases fresh, regional seafood and fun for all ages including; live music, maritime education, free boat rides, children’s activities, vessel tours, and more.

Eastside Community Paseos Construction on East Cota Street


The Eastside Community Paseos Project will resume construction the week of October 9, starting on the 900 E. block of Cota Street. Residents should expect traffic and parking impacts during construction. Safety enhancements on this block include a new westbound bike lane on the north side of the street that will safely connect residents and students from the Eastside to Milpas Street and Santa Barbara Junior High School.
