The Library Expands Hours on Evenings and Weekends

The Library received additional funding for staffing from City Council during the FY24 budget process in order to restore open hours on evenings and weekends. After recruitment, hiring, and training, SBPL will we implementing expanded hours beginning Sunday, October 8 at Central and Eastside Libraries. In preparation for the expanded schedule, all Library locations will close at noon on Wednesday, October 4, to facilitate staff training.

Free Bulky Item Pickup Program Expanding October 1


The Sustainability & Resilience Department’s Trash & Recycling Division is pleased to announce changes to the Free Bulky Item Pickup Program. As of October 1, residents will be able to schedule four pickups a year and the program is also expanding to include renters, so each household in the City can schedule pickups.

Halloween Adopt-a-Block Decoration Program 


The City Downtown Team is thrilled to announce the launch of its spooktacular new community initiative, the Halloween Adopt-a-Block Program. The Adopt-a-Block Program invites residents, businesses, and community groups to adopt a block of the State Street Promenade and decorate it with Halloween decorations. Apply before the Friday, October 6 application deadline.
