Hickman Road Turn Lane to Close

Beginning Monday, May 6, westbound Hickman Road traffic will not be able to turn left (south) onto Alice's Road as the left turn lane will be closed. This lane is expected to be closed through at least May 17. Some temporary lane shifts are likely to occur on May 3 as well. View more details and the Brick Drive detour map .

Fun fact: crews crushed the old Alice’s Road concrete and reused it for the base of the new lanes. Check out this video to see recent progress.
Hickman Speed Limit Now 45 mph

The Iowa DOT recently changed the speed limit along U.S. Highway 6/Hickman Road. The speed limit is now 45 mph from the western limits of Waukee (west of 10th Street) to east of Alice's Road. Read more.
Kress Named Citizen of the Year

Congrats to Eric Kress who was recently presented with the 2018 Citizen of the Year honor by Waukee Mayor Peard! Kress has served the Waukee community by way of the Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce and the Waukee Betterment Foundation, and is a youth sports coach, Sunday school teacher and Waukee Elementary volunteer.  See photos from the reception .
Officer Kickbush Graduates from ILEA

New Waukee Police Officer Chris Kickbush graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy's 285th Basic Class on Friday, April 19, 2019. He will now undergo in-the-field training for a few months and as he brings the Waukee PD’s current police officer count to 25. Read more.

Police Collect 130 Pounds of Prescription Drugs

On April 27, the Waukee Police Department opened its doors for four hours on a Saturday as part of the DEA's National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. Waukee residents dropped off 130 pounds of unwanted or expired medication; the drugs were then disposed of by the DEA. Read more.
