Remembering History & Building The Future!

Housing Rehabilitation Program

The City is in the process of applying for round three of housing rehabilitation grants. More information will be available in the future regarding the requirements. The city has been told that the selected area that was a requirement in previous years will no longer be a requirement this year. This is great news for our residents as geographic locations will not be a factor except that one must be in the City limits. We work hard to serve our residents.

Low-to-moderate income communities can apply for grants to improve housing and rehabilitate and retrofit properties. Single Family Owner Occupied - To provide safe and sanitary living conditions for low-to-moderate income residents of their communities, local governments may request grant funds up to $500,000. These grants are used to upgrade existing housing stock in the communities.

The City was fortunate enough to receive funding for Rounds 1 & 2 which resulted in over 10 homes being rehabilitated with 50k in improvements. The dollar program also received supplemental funding for additional work from Marseilles Bank, Ottawa OSB Bank, Jonathon Walker of Edwards Jones Investment, City of Marseilles, and NUCOR. Marseilles, being additionally supported by the aforementioned gave the City additional points during the grading process. We ae once again looking forward to applying and the possibility of once again assisting our residents with housing rehabilitation.
