March in Marysville

New garbage & yard waste routes effective March 4

To serve you better with efficient and timely collection, we are implementing new garbage and yard waste routes starting March 4. This is necessary to balance route sizes because our residential population has increased over the years.

Customers affected by this change should have received a letter from the city with your new collection day. To account for the service change, we will accept an extra bag of garbage on your new collection date at no additional charge. Please place the bag next to your cart.

Waste Management will send notice of schedule changes for recycling. If you have any questions, please call our Utility Billing staff at 360-363-8001.

Community Development

Share your thoughts on the future utilities plan

In our ongoing efforts to update the 2024 Comprehensive Plan, our city staff has crafted a draft update to the Utilities Element (UE). This important document covers key utilities like electricity, telecommunications, and natural gas infrastructure and providers right here in Marysville.

The Community Development team has been working closely with major utility providers such as the Public Utility District (PUD) and Puget Sound Energy (PSE) to ensure that we have the necessary utilities not just for today, but for the future as well. With recent changes in utility requirements, including a new state law mandating a transition to clean energy by 2045 and the increasing demand for electricity due to electric vehicles and charging stations, the utility landscape is evolving rapidly. That's why local coordination with utilities is crucial to ensuring they understand our community's growth plans.

We value your input on the draft UE, which you can access for review on our Comprehensive Plan update website under the 'Project History' tab. Share your feedback via email at [email protected] or by mailing it to Attn.: Community Development Department, 501 Delta Avenue, Marysville, WA 98270.

Please note that while water, sanitary sewer, and stormwater systems are often considered utilities, they're actually classified as public facilities under Washington State's Growth Management Act and are addressed separately.
