City Theatrical Designer Interview with Tim Deiling
Designer Interview: Tim Deiling

Tim Deiling is an American-born Lighting Designer educated and based out of the United Kingdom. Named "Young Lighting Designer of the Year" by the Association of Lighting Designers in 2008, Tim has since designed lighting for 200+ professional theatrical productions on the West End, tours, and beyond, and his work has been recognized by The New York Times. Find out more about Tim's past, present, and future, and more about his experiences designing SiX The Musical.

"You instantly know how good your show is if you put it in front of non-theatre goers. With SiX, people said things like, 'I never knew theatre could be that.' That's how we knew it succeeded."

How to Create a Neon Sign Using QolorFLEX NuNeon
How-To: LED Neon Signage

Want to achieve the look of traditional neon lighting for a dynamic environment like theatre? Learn how the lighting and scenic teams for SOFT POWER, a new off-Broadway musical at The Public Theater in New York City, used QolorFLEX® NuNeon™ over MDF board to create a bold, neon pink sign behind the stage that enhanced their vision of how to show America's place in the world from China's point of view.

"We used ideas from City Theatrical's Wreath Making video in conversation with scenic for ease of mounting and layout. In total we used about 18 rolls of QolorFLEX NuNeon."

QolorFLEX UV LED Tape
October Focus: QolorFLEX UV LED Tape

Perfect for Halloween celebrations,  QolorFLEX UV LED Tape was designed to accentuate the flourescence of surrounding objects or paint, providing a "glow in the dark" effect. With a wavelength of 395 nm just outside the visible spectrum, QolorFLEX UV LED Tape works similarly to a black light but in a professional QolorFLEX LED strip. It is ideal for installations such as from theme park rides to mood lighting to evening events.
