City's Bingo Senior Social &
Exercise Classes

The City of Columbia's Parks and Recreation Department host free Bingo Senior Socials and exercise classes that focuses on arthritis.

The classes are designed for those with limited mobility because of arthritis. Low-impact exercises, mostly while seated, allows arthritis sufferers to help improve flexibility through stretching. Learn more about the City's Bingo Senior Social & Exercise Classes.

City Offices to Close in Observance of Independence Day

In observance of Independence Day, the City of Columbia offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2019.

All garbage and recycle routes will remain on schedule. Emergency police, fire and rescue services may be reached by calling 9-1-1.
Last Day to Apply for Art Along the Trail

The Columbia Art Center is accepting artists for its 2019 Art Along the Trail showcase at Riverfront Park until Monday, July 1, 2019.

City’s Summer Movies Series at Earlewood Park

The City of Columbia’s Summer Movies Series will continue on Friday, July 5 with "BumbleBee” in the amphitheater at Earlewood Park, 1113 Recreation Dr.

Pre-show activities begin at 7:45 p.m. The movie will begin at sunset. | more |
Summer Concert Series at
Finlay Park

The City of Columbia’s Summer Concert Series will start on Saturday, July 6, 2019, with the "Pieces of A Dream” at Finlay Park, 930 Laurel Street.

The free Summer Concert Series will be held from 7 - 10 p.m. | more |
SCE&G will perform tree trimming activities along overhead utility lines in the following neighborhoods for the next two weeks:

Pet of the Week: 
Ralph (ID# A256144)

Meet Animal Services’ new Pet of the Week, Ralph. He is a one-year old, orange and white, domestic short-hair cat. This guy adjusts quickly to change and is very sociable with other felines. Ralph is only a year old and still has his whole life ahead of him. 

This loving “furbaby” has already been neutered, micro-chipped, and is currently ready to meet her “furever” family.

Trash the Poop
Wag-Along Wednesdays

Columbia Water’s Trash the Poop campaign is sponsoring all of the Columbia Fireflies’ “Wag-Along” Wednesday games for the 2019 season.

Columbia Water will be at the events with Trash the Poop trivia wheel (with prizes for correct answers!), and all dog owners will get a free Trash the Poop bag dispenser (filled with bags!).

Columbia Police Department Yard Sale

Columbia Police Department will be having a Yard Sale on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 7 a.m. to Noon at Headquarters (1 Justice Sq.).

Alongside the yard sale the CPD Traffic Unit will be conducting Child Safety Seat Checks and SRO’s will be providing Child DNA Kits/Fingerprinting Kits.

Columbia Police Chief W. H. “Skip” Holbrook announces that the Columbia Police Department is now accepting donations for the Annual ‘Fan the Heat’ Program.

In particular, CPD will be collecting air conditioning units, fans and financial contributions from now until Labor Day (September 2, 2019). *Air conditioning units are of greater need*

City’s Recreational Swim
Season Schedule

Both Maxcy Gregg Pool and Greenview Pool will be open for recreational swimming on the following holidays: Independence Day (July 4) and Labor Day (Sept. 2) from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The recreational swim season will remain open until Monday, Sept. 2 (Labor Day).
