Measure X Update: New Fire Station coming
|
Your Measure X funds are at work -- a new downtown Fire Station is coming soon. Design plans are complete and the City will begin preparing the site on Civic Center Drive for construction over the next several months. The City of Oceanside Emergency Operations Center has been closely monitoring the impacts of the oil spill that occurred October 2 off the coast of Huntington Beach. The Coast Guard and the California Department of Fish & Wildlife are the commanding agencies. Overflights and shore-based responders have been monitoring the ocean and shore for oil impact. Shoreline Cleaning Assessment Teams have been deployed along Oceanside beaches recovering any tarballs found. Air, water, and sediment samples were taken in Oceanside and no anomalies were found. Park / Recreation facilities renamed
|
At its meeting on October, 20, the City Council approved the renaming of three City facilities:
- Rancho Del Oro Park was renamed "Jim Wood Park at Rancho Del Oro"
- The El Corazon Aquatic Center was renamed "The William A. Wagner Aquatic Center," and
-
The Alex Road Skate Park was renamed "Prince Memorial Skate Park." Read more

City Council meetings are open to all. The next regular meeting dates are November 3 and November 17 at 5:00 p.m. A Workshop is scheduled for November 10 at 2:00 p.m. to discuss the City's solid waste & recycling services. City tree trimming taking place
|
Heads up: crews are working in trees. City palms west of the I-5 corridor will be pruned by the end of December. Then, City tree trimming in northeast Oceanside / Morro Hills will begin. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Survey

In keeping with ongoing efforts to serve all members of the public, the City of Oceanside is updating its Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) transition plan and self-evaluation. The accessibility plan provides for people with disabilities to City facilities, programs, services, and events. The City is seeking input from the community and local organizations assisting those with disabilities. Your feedback will help us address and prioritize current and future accessibility needs. Use the free "My Oceanside" City app to easily report issues you may see around town. The "My Oceanside" app is a mobile phone application that allows you to quickly and easily report issues such as graffiti, potholes, or abandoned shopping carts. O'Side Turkey Trot Thanksgiving Day

The O’side Trot has been recognized as one of the "top trots" in the US! The 5 mile and 5K courses offer one of the most beautiful courses in the country. Be sure to bring the whole family, as there will be races for everyone. This event offers a very entertaining costume contest, a largest teams competition, fabulous live entertainment on the course and finisher medals for all participants.
