June 2026

FROM THE DESK OF THE CITY MANAGER

Dear Adairsville Residents,

The Mayor and Council are thrilled to see so many families and visitors enjoying Veterans Memorial Park and all of its new amenities. It has been wonderful to watch the park become a gathering place for our community.

As usage of the park continues to grow, we have recently experienced several challenges, including vandalism, illegal parking, golf carts on walking trails, and behavior that impacts the experience of other guests.

Over the past several months, the City has addressed repeated vandalism to park restrooms, excessive gum on the pickleball courts, and damage caused by toys, sand, and sidewalk chalk in sensitive park areas. Sand from the volleyball court has clogged splash pad jets, and sidewalk chalk has damaged the Memorial Wall bricks and service emblems. While chalk may wash easily from sidewalks, it can permanently affect memorial surfaces.

Our goal is for every visitor to have a safe, positive, and enjoyable experience, and that takes all of us working together to care for this special community gathering space.

To help keep the park welcoming for everyone, please keep the following guidelines in mind during your visit:

General Park Guidelines

  • Dogs must remain on a leash and under the owner’s control at all times. Please clean up after pets using the provided waste stations. Dogs should never be left unattended in the dog park enclosure.
  • Dispose of trash in designated receptacles. Littering and dumping are prohibited.
  • Please be considerate of others by keeping language, noise, and music at a reasonable level.
  • Children under the age of 13 must be supervised by an adult and should not be left unattended.
  • Golf carts, ATVs, and vehicles are only permitted in designated parking areas and are not allowed in the park or on walking trails or grassy areas.

Splash Pad Reminders

  • All General Park Rules Apply.
  • Toys, water balloons, floats, sand, rocks, sticks, sidewalk chalk, food, beverages, and animals are not permitted inside the splash pad area.
  • Please avoid rough play, running, and unsafe behavior.
  • The Emergency Stop Button should only be used during an actual emergency. (This requires a manual override to restart the splash pad)

Pickleball Court Guidelines

  • All General Park Rules Apply.
  • Wear athletic, non-marking court shoes only.
  • Please properly dispose of all trash, especially gum.
  • Do not lean, sit, or jump on the nets.
  • Do not play when courts are wet or have standing water.
  • Keep extra balls off the court surface to help prevent injuries.
  • Bicycles and pets are not permitted inside the fenced court area.
  • Please keep language, noise, and music at a respectful level for other players and nearby guests.

These guidelines are not intended to take away from anyone’s enjoyment of the park — they are meant to help protect and improve the experience for everyone. Veterans Memorial Park is a place for residents and guests of all ages to relax, play, and spend time together. Thank you for helping us keep Veterans Memorial Park a clean, safe, and welcoming place for the entire community.

MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL

During last month's City Council Work Session Meeting, the Mayor and City Council were honored to present a check in the amount of $3,200.00 to Sarah Husser, representing Cancer Navigators, from proceeds raised during the Great Locomotive Chase 5K held in April.

The Great Locomotive Chase 5K is more than just a race! It is an opportunity for our community to come together in support of individuals and families facing one of life’s greatest challenges. We are proud that this event continues to make a positive impact beyond the finish line.

Cancer Navigators provides incredible services to cancer patients throughout northwest Georgia by offering free resources and support services. Their organization serves with compassion, dignity, and care while helping provide hope and encouragement to those affected by cancer.

The Mayor and City Council would like to thank everyone who participated in, sponsored, volunteered, and supported the Great Locomotive Chase 5K. Because of your generosity and community spirit, we are able to support organizations like Cancer Navigators and the important work they do every day.

Thank you, Cancer Navigators, for being a beacon of hope and support for so many families in our community!

On May 7th, the City of Adairsville gathered at the Downtown Square Gazebo to observe the National Day of Prayer 2026, themed “Hope for All Generations.” It was a meaningful evening of worship, unity, and prayer as our community came together to lift up our city, county, state, and nation.

Pastor Tina Spellman welcomed everyone to the service, followed by Mayor Kenneth Carson reading the National Day of Prayer Proclamation signed by the Bartow County City Mayors and County Commissioner, officially declaring Thursday, May 7th, 2026 as National Day of Prayer throughout Bartow County.

The Presentation of Colors was proudly presented by the Adairsville High School JROTC, and Pastor Clay Willis led the Pledge of Allegiance. Worship music was beautifully provided by Marcus Elzey and Josie Hoover.

Special prayer points throughout the evening included:

• Family – Pastor Jim Pinkard

• Church/Lost – Pastor Kenny Benham

• Schools – Pastor Eric Sorrell

• Business – Pastor Tina Spellman

• Government – Holly Holder

Thank you to everyone who came out to support this special evening and joined together in prayer for the City of Adairsville and our community. We are grateful for all who participated and helped make the event so meaningful.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORNER

Help Keep Adairsville Looking Its Best

As the weather warms up and outdoor activity increases, the City of Adairsville would like to remind residents of a few simple ways we can all work together to keep our neighborhoods clean, safe, and attractive.

One of the most common issues we see throughout the community is trash containers being left at the curb for extended periods after collection day. Per City ordinance, garbage containers should be removed from the curb and returned to an appropriate storage location by midnight on the day of pickup.

Leaving containers in the roadway or visible from the street for several days can create safety concerns, impact neighborhood appearance, and attract animals or debris.

Residents are also reminded to keep grass and weeds properly maintained on their property.

Overgrown grass, weeds, and unmanaged lots not only affect curb appeal, but can also contribute to pest issues and create potential safety hazards. City ordinance considers grass and weeds over 12 inches in height to be a nuisance violation.

Keeping lawns maintained and promptly removing trash containers may seem like small things, but they make a big difference in preserving community pride and maintaining the quality of life that makes Adairsville a great place to live. We appreciate everyone doing their part to help keep our city clean, welcoming, and beautiful.

If you have questions regarding sanitation schedules, yard maintenance requirements, or other property maintenance concerns, please contact the Community Development Department.
