Understanding Animal Regulations in Adairsville:
Code of Ordinances
Chapter 8
To help ensure the safety and well-being of all residents—both two-and four-legged—the City of Adairsville enforces a Code of Ordinances concerning the ownership and care of animals within city limits.
Here are a few important rules to keep in mind when bringing your four-legged friends out into the community:
· Dogs must always be leashed when outside the home, especially when on city property. The only exception is within the designated dog park, where dogs may be off-leash—but even then, they must not be left unattended.
· As a reminder, please be courteous and responsible by promptly picking up after your dog during walks—help us keep our community clean and enjoyable for everyone.
· Additionally, it is also important to note that dogs are not permitted in the splash pad area at Veteran’s Memorial Park for health and safety reasons.
The City of Adairsville has regulations on the number and type of animals you may keep at your home/property. If you live on an acre or less, you may not keep more than three dogs. Those living on less than two acres may have up to six cats. Additionally, livestock and poultry are not permitted within city limits. This includes animals such as goats, sheep, horses, pigs, cattle, chickens, roosters, pigeons, and other birds raised or kept for agricultural or recreational purposes. These rules help maintain a clean, safe, and neighbor-friendly environment for everyone.
Violations of the city’s animal ordinance may result in a code enforcement citation from Bartow County Animal Control, which can carry fines and may lead to additional penalties, including potential court involvement and further enforcement measures.
