The City was honored to host the District One Georgia City County Managers Association luncheon. The City will also be well represented at the Georgia Municipal Association Conference in June - this conference offers important and informative training opportunities for elected and appointed municipal officials from all over the State of Georgia!

Thank you to all of our residents who serve on the City's Advisory Boards - we value your commitment to our community.  We recently held a meeting of the Chairs and Vice Chairs of all of the Boards, as well as those that represent the City on countywide advisory boards.  It was a great opportunity for Board members to share information about their respective boards and brainstorm ideas about the future of the City!

Have a safe and relaxing Summer and I hope to see you at some of our events and meetings!

MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL

The City Council was honored to present the proceeds from the Great Locomotive Chase 5K to Cancer Navigators with a check for $3,000.00 at May's Council Meeting. The City of Adairsville believes in all of the work and support Cancer Navigators does to help the patients and families fighting this disease. We would like to thank our sponsors, participants, and volunteers again for making this year's event a success!

During May's Council Meeting students from the Adairsville High School performed a Verbatim Play under the direction of Mr. Judson Whitfield. A verbatim play is a form of theatrical production where the spoken words of real people, often from interviews or other recorded sources are used verbatim (word for word) to construct the dialogue and narrative of a play. The students did a great job!

GCCMA District 1 Luncheon

The City of Adairsville was honored to host the Georgia City-County Management Association Luncheon on May 14th at the Earl Towe Community Center. Pam Madison, City Manager of Adairsville, was able to highlight the work in the community, major accomplishments, goals, challenges, and future successes' for the City of Adairsville. Veterans Memorial Park Improvements

We are excited to announce new upgrades coming to Veterans Memorial Park! Construction will be underway for six new pickleball courts. In addition to the pickleball courts, the existing dog park will undergo improvements to better serve our furry friends. The area will be reconfigured into separate zones for large and small dogs, allowing for safer and more enjoyable play for all pets. Furthermore, the smaller children's playground will be fenced to provide additional security and peace of mind for children and parents. This project is funded by a partnership with Bartow County and SPLOST. We look forward to sharing more updates as the project progresses.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORNER

Understanding Animal Regulations in Adairsville:

Code of Ordinances

Chapter 8

To help ensure the safety and well-being of all residents—both two-and four-legged—the City of Adairsville enforces a Code of Ordinances concerning the ownership and care of animals within city limits.

Here are a few important rules to keep in mind when bringing your four-legged friends out into the community:

·     Dogs must always be leashed when outside the home, especially when on city property. The only exception is within the designated dog park, where dogs may be off-leash—but even then, they must not be left unattended.

·     As a reminder, please be courteous and responsible by promptly picking up after your dog during walks—help us keep our community clean and enjoyable for everyone.

·     Additionally, it is also important to note that dogs are not permitted in the splash pad area at Veteran’s Memorial Park for health and safety reasons.

The City of Adairsville has regulations on the number and type of animals you may keep at your home/property. If you live on an acre or less, you may not keep more than three dogs. Those living on less than two acres may have up to six cats. Additionally, livestock and poultry are not permitted within city limits. This includes animals such as goats, sheep, horses, pigs, cattle, chickens, roosters, pigeons, and other birds raised or kept for agricultural or recreational purposes. These rules help maintain a clean, safe, and neighbor-friendly environment for everyone.

Violations of the city’s animal ordinance may result in a code enforcement citation from Bartow County Animal Control, which can carry fines and may lead to additional penalties, including potential court involvement and further enforcement measures.
