Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration
The City of Alhambra's 4th of July Fireworks Celebration will take place on Monday at Almansor Park! Gates open at 4pm, live entertainment begins at 5pm, and the fireworks show will start at 9pm. The following items are prohibited: alcohol, smoking, BBQing, fireworks, coolers larger than 5 quart, and weapons of any kind. Please see map for parking restrictions.
Illegal Fireworks Prohibited in Alhambra
As the holiday approaches, we want to remind you that illegal fireworks are dangerous and irresponsible. Under California Health and Safety Code Fireworks Penalties, Section 12700, any person who violates any provision of the State Fireworks Laws or Regulations is guilty of a misdemeanor. A misdemeanor is punishable by a fine of not less than $500, but not to exceed $1,000 or by imprisonment in the county jail for up to one year, or both.
Under California Health and Safety Code Fireworks Penalties, Section 12700(B), a person in possession of unaltered dangerous fireworks in violation of the State Fireworks Law is punishable as a misdemeanor or a public offense with fines ranging from $500 to more than $50,000, depending on the gross weight of unaltered dangerous fireworks in possession.
The only fireworks permitted within the City of Alhambra are those labeled “Safe and Sane,” which can be purchased at retail stands from June 28th - July 4th. Please be responsible and safe!

Sale of Flavored Tobacco Products Prohibited
Effective July 1, 2022, tobacco retailers in Alhambra are prohibited from selling flavored tobacco products.
 
Last year, the Alhambra City Council passed Ordinance No. O2M21-4786, adding Chapter 5.90 to establish a Tobacco Retail Licensing Program, and prohibiting the sale of flavored tobacco products.
 
Violations may result in the suspension or revocation of the Tobacco Retail License.

Concerts and Movies in the Park
Head to Alhambra Park for great family entertainment throughout the month of July. The City of Alhambra's Concerts in the Park returns on Fridays. Catch live performances beginning at 7:00 PM at the Alhambra Park bandshell. On Saturdays, enjoy preshow activities beginning at 7:00 PM, followed by a movie at dusk. These events are free. Please check the flyers for information on the line up and movie schedules.
City Jobs Open, Police Recruit Written Test
The City of Alhambra has multiple positions open. Please visit our website to check out all the opportunities available. The City is offering a $10,000 signing bonus for police officer, dispatcher and firefighter/paramedic laterals. In addition, we will offer monthly testing for Police Recruits starting in July. The three-hour written test will start at 9AM for all the dates listed inside Reese Hall at the Alhambra Civic Center Library. Only 25 spots are available per test date and they are first-come, first-served. 
Please arrive 15 minutes early to register. The library is located at 101 S. 1st Street, Alhambra, CA 91801. Please bring your photo ID and provide your social security number for identification purposes. You may park at the 4-hour structure adjacent to the Library. For more info, visit our website.
Water Conservation Measures In Effect In Alhambra
Mandatory water conservation measures became effective in Alhambra on June 10, 2022, to help the state save water amid a historic drought. David Dolphin, Deputy Director of Environmental Compliance and the Customer Service Center, was interviewed by Spectrum News on the City's conservation efforts. You can watch the interview here.

2022 First Annual Environmental Scholarship Program Recipients Selected
The Alhambra City Council and Republic Services commended the winners of the First Annual Environmental Scholarship Award. Republic Services joined with the City of Alhambra to award five scholarships of $1,000 to Alhambra students during the June 27th City Council Meeting. Each finalist submitted an essay based on the theme of environmental stewardship and acknowledged the power of future generations to innovate greener living standards, an environmentally sound economy, and an environmentally sustainable lifestyle.

COVID-19 Pediatric Vaccine Now Available
Children older than six months can now get vaccinated against COVID-19! The COVID-19 pediatric vaccine is available at vaccination sites across LA County. Free Summer Lunches and Activities To Go
The City of Alhambra's Grab and Go Summer Food Service Program continues until August 5th. Children 18 years and younger can receive free lunch and snacks Monday through Friday at several locations throughout the city. Please click on the flyer for details. The lunches and snacks are served on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants can also pick up various crafts to go. For more information, call 626-570-5081.
