IS YOUR ADDRESS CLEARLY DISPLAYED?

Homes and other buildings in Altoona suffered considerable damage because of the hailstorm on May 15, 2025. Since that day, the City has issued 1,100+ building permits for repairs to roofs and siding. One important item missing after the repairs is address numbers. We encourage you to check the front of your home, apartment, or non-residential building. If you find that the address is not displayed so it is visible from the street, please install the numbers as soon as possible.

Address Identification Altoona Municipal Code 8.26

All buildings containing a dwelling unit or units and all non-residential buildings shall have street address identification. Street address identification means the prominent display of the street address in plain Arabic numerals clearly visible from the street.

  • 1 and 2 family homes - Not less than three inches (3") in height
  • Multi-family and non-residential buildings - Not less than six inches (6") in height

It's true. There's no place like home.

If your home was built before 1984, there's a good chance it may need repairs. That's why Wisconsin's governing body has committed $50 million to help revive our communities.

With the More Like Home Repair and Renew Loan, homeowners will get the repairs needed to renew their living spaces for years to come. Here, our support is more than just monetary--it's a commitment to helping your house feel more like home.

What repairs qualify? Repairing or replacing key structural areas
