Eagle Festival Activities Focus on Nature and Community
The Eagle Festival was created by City staff and a committee after the reconstruction of Olympic Avenue in 2008 to bring visitors and the community into the downtown area during the off-season and to have an event focused on nature and the environment.
This year, activities include an eagle photo contest to add to our collection of winning eagle photos and a nature art show at the Olympic Theater Cafe, sponsored by the Arlington Arts Council. The Olympic Theater will host two reptile shows and a movie "Charlie the Lonesome Cougar", a film set in the 1960s at a Washington logging camp.
Kids will enjoy creating animal paintings on wood rounds in the Council Chambers during the event. The Marysville Rock and Gem Club displays in the Council Chambers and the Pilchuck Audubon Society and Snohomish County Park Rangers will have booths. Tractors from Sky Valley Tractor Club will be on display and tractor-wagon rides are available in front of City Hall.
The Chamber of Commerce is hosting a passport walk for kids (Eagle Quest) and a small vendor fair near Legion Park.
You are invited to join a nature walk at Country Charm Park with naturalist Bill Blake at 10:00 am. Check out the Stillaguamish Valley Pioneer Museum, their opening day for the season is Saturday. More curated adventures are available on our website at www.arlingtonwa.gov/eaglefest.
