CITY HALL OPENS TO THE PUBLIC ON JUNE 15
Throughout the Safer At Home order issued by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Azusa has continued to provide essential services to the community while keeping its employees safe. As businesses start to reopen and following the issuance of the Safer at Work and Safer in the Community Order modifications issued by County Health, the City is putting in place safeguards to protect its employees and community members when City Hall doors open to the public on June 15. Hours will be modified and indoor capacity will be limited.

Physical distancing, cloth face coverings, and other safety protocols must be observed when entering City facilities.

Residents and businesses are advised to follow all regulations and advisories from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. Visit the city’s website for more information about city services and operations at www.azusaca.gov 
COVID-19 BUSINESS RESOURCES
APPLICATION PERIOD EXTENDED

The Los Angeles County Development Authority, with funding from LA Metro, has a program to provide emergency relief to help small businesses during this unprecedented time.

June 8, 2020, 12:00 p.m. to June 19, 2020, 5:00 p.m.

Businesses located within a quarter-mile of a major transit stop are eligible for the TOC Loan Program.  Use this tool   to verify your business location. The maximum loan amount is $20,000. The TOC Loan proceeds can be used for working capital. *Businesses that received an SBA PPP Loan are eligible for this TOC Loan Program.


WHAT'S OPEN IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY?

View the examples of sites that are open and temporarily closed under the Reopening Safer at Work and in the Community for Control of COVID-19 Order. This is a partial list only and when at these sites, you must follow requirements to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Safer At Work and in the Community
The County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health released the   Reopening Safer at Work and in the Community For Control of COVID-19   health order. The order requires higher-risk businesses to remain closed and allows five categories of Lower-Risk Businesses to reopen.
There are five (5) categories of lower-risk businesses that may reopen are:
1.      Retailers ("Lower-Risk Retail Businesses")
2.      Manufacturing and logistics sector businesses that supply lower-risk retail businesses
3.      Non-Essential office-based businesses
4.      Indoor malls and shopping centers
5.      Hair Salons and Barbershops

These five categories of Lower-Risk Businesses  may reopen subject to conditions outlined by the Department of Public Health . All water provided to Azusa Light & Water customers continues to be much cleaner than that required by State and Federal regulations and of superior quality.
State-certified Water Treatment Plant Operators regularly treat and monitor the quality of the drinking water we serve.
REFUSE & RECYCLING INFORMATION
HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS & E-WASTE RECYCLING EVENTS:
All Household Hazardous and Electronic Waste temporary collection events sponsored by the Sanitation Districts and Public Works of Los Angeles County are postponed and permanent centers are closed until further notice. If you have any questions, call (800) 238-0173 or (888) CLEAN LA.

HHW/E-Waste should be stored in a secure container/box in a safe location. Collection events will resume once it's safe for the public and their employees. In case of a spill or release of a hazardous material (explosive, ignitable, combustible, etc.), please call your local Fire Department.

SAVE THE DATE:
Azusa Shred-a-thon will be held on September 26, Saturday, 9 AM - 12 PM, Azusa Light & Water Parking Lot, 729 N. Azusa Avenue. Open to Azusa residents & businesses only.
BULKY WASTE PICK-UP REMINDERS:
  • Wood: Must be cut into
lengths no longer than 4 ft. and bundled. Ensure there are no nails/hazards protruding.
  • Carpet: Must be cut into
lengths no longer than 4 ft. and rolled into a diameter no more than 18 inches.
  • Construction & demolition
debris is NOT bulky waste and must be disposed of by renting a temporary bin.
  • Remove or secure all
appliance doors to protect children.

Bulky waste is picked up during your regular trash day. Household hazardous and electronic waste are not accepted. Call Athens Services the day before your trash day to ensure pick up at (888) 336-6100.
VIRTUAL EVENTS YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS
Join the master gardeners from the Los Angeles County Public Works for free webinars to beautify your home and garden. Webinars are approximately 45 minutes followed by a 15 minute period to answer questions and take orders for  compost bins . Azusa residents can apply for a rebate for the full purchase price of bin by submitting an application form and proof of purchase. Webinars offered:

Intro to Composting : Learn the basics of using backyard and worm composting systems to create a rich soil amendment to nourish your garden.

Water-wise Gardening : Guidance on creating a beautiful drought-tolerant landscape, as well as grasscycling for responsible lawn care.

Organic Gardening : How to build healthy soil, grow fruits and vegetables, and address common plant pests and diseases using organic methods.

Small-space Gardening : Learn to grow edible and decorative plants in containers and set up a small-space worm composting system.
