POOL & WATERPARK TO REMAIN CLOSED
"This is a very painful decision to make as I recognize that the City Pool and Waterpark is one of the many reasons that BG is a great place to live, work and raise a family. Unfortunately, the risks associated with opening the pool are not acceptable during this pandemic." ~Mayor Aspacher
Due to health and safety concerns, the City Pool and Waterpark will remain closed this summer. This was a difficult decision and one that was not made lightly. This decision was made in consultation with staff, health professionals, and a thorough review of the Governor’s guidelines regarding the opening of pools. The Parks and Recreation staff has been reviewing the CDC Guidelines for Pools since April and the final guidelines from the State of Ohio that were released last weekend.

Several plans were considered that attempted to keep the Pool and Waterpark open on a limited basis; unfortunately, each plan ultimately demonstrated that the best decision for the community was for the facility to remain closed through 2020.... MORE

Vegetable Gardening
Virtual Class

Vegetable gardening is fun and rewarding. Growing food at home has never seemed like a better idea. During World War II, Americans were urged to plant “victory gardens” as the nation faced potential food shortages.

The COVID-19 crisis has yet to seriously threaten the food supply, but the sight of empty grocery store shelves and less than ideal produce, has led Americans to produce their own vegetables.

Join Craig Everett, horticulturist with the Ohio State University Extension office, this Thursday, May 21, at 7 p.m., virtually via Carmen Zoom. To attend COVID-19 Vegetable Gardening you need to pre-register.

To Pre-Register, CLICK HERE  After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

MAY BRUSH COLLECTION
The window to register your address for the City's May Brush Collection has closed. The next opportunity to register will be in September.

For those who registered, the collection began on May 18. Brush will only be collected from registered addresses. For addresses on the list, please follow the guidelines posted  HERE.

If you missed the registration window, or find yourself in need of getting rid of brush later, the Wood County Landfill accepts brush at their Yard Waste Recycling area. The brush is  not  added to the landfill itself, it is added to the yard waste pile that will be turned into mulch next year! Click HERE for guidance.
