Highlights: Holiday Closure, Adopt a Storm Drain, New Zoning Regulations for Accessory Dwelling Units, Help with Career Training, Openings on Boards & Commissions
February 18, 2019
Greetings everyone,
Tomorrow night's City Council meeting has several agenda items that may be of interest. Here's a link to the Full Agenda. A couple of items that I will call out follow.
The Council will be considering proclaiming February 18-22 as "Random Acts of Kindness Week". This initiative was created and launched in 1995 in Denver, Colorado. The proclamation highlights efforts to make kindness the standard in everyday life. Whether it is helping a stranger in need on your way to work, instilling the importance of kindness in the classroom, or a mutual demonstration of appreciation of those closest to us, the end goal is to make kindness not an act at all, but a normal, everyday occurrence. Random Acts of Kindness Week is one week dedicated to community members performing as many kind deeds as possible. If you send me examples of your acts of kindness, I'll highlight a few in future issues of City of Benicia This Week.
The second item to highlight is the update on the Council's Work Plan (item 15.A on the agenda). The Work Plan shows the 12 projects and initiatives selected by the Council at the Goal-Setting Workshop last March to be our focus for fiscal year 2018-19. The Council will hold another Goal-Setting Workshop on March 29 & 30 to discuss next year. Both days are open to the public with Saturday, March 30, focused on the Work Plan 2019-20.
As always, thank you for your interest in the City of Benicia This Week!
