Hello Everyone,
City Manager Lorie Tinfow is out of town until tomorrow so I have the pleasure of sharing this message with you.
Did you know, in the most recent budget, the City of Benicia chose to convert to Marin Clean Energy's (MCE's) "Deep Green" energy program for our energy purchases? This means that we've chosen to buy power that comes from non-polluting wind and solar sources in California. The wind and solar sources are independently verified by
Green-e, the nation's leading renewable energy certification program, so we can be confident that our Deep Green power meets strict environmental and consumer protection standards.
Marin Clean Energy provides low-carbon electricity at competitive rates in member cities like Benicia. It is a Joint Powers Authority electricity provider that gives all PG&E electric customers the choice of having their electricity supplied from clean, renewable resources at competitive rates, known as Community Choice Aggregation.

OneCard For Students: All students attending Middle School and High School in Benicia can now use their Student ID cards as library cards, thanks to the OneCard collaboration between
Benicia Public Library and
Benicia Unified School District.
The move puts library cards into the hands of the nearly 3,000 students who attend these schools.
With their
OneCard, students are able to access Library resources remotely, providing access to high quality databases which can help with research projects and general homework.
A maximum of ten items at a time may be charged to the student ID card. Students with OneCards may check out audio books, books, and non-fiction DVDs. All other formats require a
regular library card which students may have also.
Students with OneCards have access to the Library's
databases too, including Overdrive's downloadable eBooks and audio books; Mango Languages where you can learn a foreign language or Shakespearean English or modern English; Masterfile's journal and magazine articles; and Learning Express's practice tests for SAT, ACT, GED, plus school subjects, and many others.
"This is a very important step forward for access to information resources for our entire community," said David Dodd, the City of Benicia's Director of Library and Cultural Services. "We've been working towards this for a couple of years, and it is so fantastic to see it become a reality!"

Walk-In Flu Shots:
Solano County Public Health Immunization Program encourages you to get the shot, not the flu with free flu vaccines. They are offering walk-in flu shots on
Wednesday, October 2, 9 a.m. - noon, at the Benicia Senior Center, 187 East L Street. The shots are FREE and open to all ages. (Please note that there will be no senior dosage or nasal spray vaccine.)
