PUBLIC MEETING: Johnson Ave water line renewal project
Join engineering staff from 4 - 6 p.m., Thursday, April 27, in the Burleson Library Community Room to discuss the  construction project that will be replacing the existing water main in Johnson Avenue including service lines to the water meters.  This work is being done as part of the City's water renewal program to replace aging infrastructure.

The proposed work on Johnson will be from Gardens Avenue to SW Ellison Street. The new water line will be located within the existing pavement on the Kerr Middle School side of the street. For most of the project, two (2) lanes of traffic will be maintained (one lane in each direction). There will be times when short detours become necessary. Water service will be maintained at all times throughout the duration of the project.

Work is anticipated to begin in early summer 2017 and last into spring of 2018.

Exhibits of the proposed construction will be available and City staff will be present to answer questions at the public meeting. If you cannot attend the public meeting but would like information or share a particular concern, please contact:

Public Safety Programs
Two great public safety programs are getting ready to start. Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is offered through the fire marshal's department.  The CERT Program helps train people to be better prepared to respond to emergencies in their community during times of disaster.

Citizens Police Academy is a program with the police department that  provides a bridge between the officer in the car and the citizens in the field. Citizens will gain an appreciation of problems and challenges facing law enforcement and then they become the police department's "goodwill ambassadors" in the community.
