Mayor Shetter to present 'State of the City'
Mayor Ken Shetter will be presenting the 'State of the City' at the Burleson Area Greater Chamber of Commerce's Winter Quarterly Meeting, 11:30 a.m. Thur. Jan. 19 at Victory Family Church, 455 NW John Jones Dr. The presentation will include city accomplishments in 2016 and highlight what is to come in 2017.

City Closures for MLK Day
Trash and curbside recycling will be collected on Monday, Jan. 16, but most City facilities will be closed in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.
City Hall, including water utility billing, along with the library, animal shelter, and Senior Activity Center will all be closed. Hidden Creek Golf Course will be open, 7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and the BRiCk will be open its regular hours, 5 a.m. - 9 p.m.
As a reminder, the water utility bills that were mailed on Dec. 23 and have a due date of Jan. 16 will be accepted on Jan. 17 without a late fee accessed.
The Burleson City Council meeting scheduled for Jan. 16 has been moved to Tuesday, Jan. 17. The work session is at 6 p.m. and the general meeting is at 7 p.m. at city hall.
CR 1016 Detour Alert
CR 1016 will be closed to thru traffic from 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. January 17 - 20 in order to construct two stormwater culverts. The road will open each evening to allow for traffic through this area. Please use the detour route provided while the work is being completed.
City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 17
The City Council meeting normally scheduled for Mon. Jan. 16 will be held at 7 p.m. (work session starts at 6 p.m.) Tues. Jan. 17 due to city facilities closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Water Utility Bills due January 17, not January 16
City of Burleson water utility bills will be due Jan. 17, not the date on the bills, Jan. 16. 

The water utility bills that were mailed on Dec. 23 have a due date of Jan. 16 but the city will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr Day. Payments can be made on Jan. 17 without a late fee accessed.

Join the Community Emergency Response Team
The Fire Marshal Department is currently enrolling for the next Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class, which starts in May.   

The CERT Program helps train people to be better prepared to respond to emergencies in their community during times of disaster.

Participants receive training in the following areas:
  • Basic emergency medical care
  • Disaster preparedness
  • Fire suppression
  • Light search and rescue techniques

Start training now! Come join the City of Burleson Be Healthy Initiative as they host the annual Be Healthy Burleson 5K / 10K / Fun Walk on Saturday, April 22, in Old Town Burleson to benefit the health, wellness, and safety for the citizens of Burleson.

Discount registration prices until March 1. Register online or  in person at City Hall (141 W. Renfro St. Burleson, TX 76028).

Tickets on sale now for Valentine Dance 
Dance with your daughter, or son, on Saturday, Feb. 11, as the City's recreation and lifelong learning department hosts the annual Father/Daughter & Mother/Son Valentine Dance at the BRiCk. The fun includes pictures, corsages, dinner, dancing, and games. For more information, contact the BRiCk at (817) 426-9104. Tickets are available NOW and can be purchased at the BRiCk! 

Times: 4 - 6:30 p.m. or 6:30 - 9 p.m.
Pre-Event Tickets: $16 per couple ($8 per person)
Day of Tickets: $25 per couple ($12.50 per person)

February 10

Senior Valentine Dance
7 - 9:30 p.m., Senior Activity Center, 216 SW Johnson Ave.
The Senior Activity Center's dance will feature live entertainment, free pictures and corsages for the ladies.  
Cost: $5 per person

February 11

Father/Daughter & Mother/Son Valentine Dance
4 - 6:30 p.m. or 6:30 - 9 p.m., BRiCk, 550 NW Summercrest Blvd. 
Join the Burleson Recreation Center as they create a wonderful evening for families with dinner, dancing, games and memories that last forever. Corsages and pictures will be provided with ticket prices. For more information. 
Pre-event cost: $16 per couple (tickets available Jan. 9)
At the door cost: $25 per couple
