Facebook Town Hall set for Tues. Jan. 31
Join the City for a Facebook Town Hall from 6 - 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31 on the Official City of Burleson Facebook page

The goal of the event is to allow residents and business owners an opportunity to ask questions and provide input regarding any city item right from the comfort of their own living room.

All city departments will be live answering questions and taking your input.
 
First Thursday to benefit Burleson Animal Shelter
From 5-8 p.m.   on Thursday,
Feb. 2 participating stores in Old Town will be donating 10% of all sales to the Burleson Animal Shelter.
 
Participating stores include Rebecca's Ranch, Gypsy Trunk and Fabulous Junk, The Market Emporium Gift Shops, The Cottage Market, Glitz Boutique (located inside Serendipity salon), Geek Out, Bricoleur Vintage Home, The Shops of Old Town and Accents of Burleson.
 
Stop by after work or as an outing with friends to Shop for a Cause.
Free Tax Aid at Burleson Public Library
The Burleson Public Library is partnering with AARP Tax Aide again this year to offer free tax assistance.

Every year qualified agents from the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) volunteer to complete the tax returns of low and moderate income taxpayers, especially those 60 and older.  

Appointments start Feb. 7 and are available Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m. - 2 p.m., at the Library and Thursdays, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., at the Burleson Service Center, 725 SE John Jones Drive. The last day for an appointment is April 13.

You must book your appointment in advance at the Burleson Public Library, 248 SW Johnson Ave and volunteers will only be available to offer assistance during the posted times. This program is a first-come, first-serve basis only and time slots fill up very quickly so don't wait, make your appointment today.

Mayor's Youth Council Looking for Leaders
Be the link between the youth of Burleson and the Burleson City Council.

Mayor's Youth Council is currently accepting nominations until March 31.
 
Who is Eligible? 
  • 13-19 years of age (at start of term June 1)
  • Reside in Burleson or the ETJ (extra-territorial jurisdiction)
  • Have a passion to be the voice of Burleson youth, and
  • Show leadership qualities within the community

February 2

Harry Potter Book Night at the Library
6 - 8 p.m., Burleson Public Library, 248 SW Johnson Ave.
 
This fun event will feature a costume contest, crafts, games, a photo booth and much more. Participants are asked to bring new socks for the Dobby Sock Drive, which will benefit those in need.

February 10

Senior Valentine Dance
7 - 9:30 p.m., Senior Activity Center, 216 SW Johnson Ave.
The Senior Activity Center's dance will feature live entertainment, free pictures and corsages for the ladies.  
Cost: $5 per person

February 11
Father/Daughter & Mother/Son Valentine  Dance  
Tickets on sale now! 

4 - 6:30 p.m. or 6:30 - 9 p.m., BRiCk, 550 NW Summercrest Blvd. 

Join the Burleson Recreation Center as they create a wonderful evening for families with dinner, dancing, games and memories that last forever. Corsages and pictures will be provided with ticket prices. For more information. 

Pre-event cost: $16 per couple (tickets available Jan. 9)
At the door cost: $25 per couple
