Election Day results; runoff election for Place 4 set for June 17
There will be a runoff election for the Place 4 seat on the Burleson City Council.

Ken Shetter received 58.78 percent of the total vote to win the Mayor seat outright. Katherine Reading brought in 34.86 percent and John Garrison received 6.36 percent to round out the mayoral race.
 
In Place 2, Incumbent Rick Green earned 55.82 percent of the vote to win the seat outright. Roman Pscheidt received 4.13 percent, KJ Topinka brought in 3.63 percent, Robert Boot garnered 10.76 percent and Brooke Wilson received 25.65 percent.
 
In Place 4, Pam Grant Tatum garnered 38.27 percent of the vote and Todd Hulsey received 42.73 percent. In order to win the seat outright, the person with the highest number of votes would have had to earn 50 percent of the total vote, plus one. Three filed for the seat that is currently held by Matt Aiken, who chose not to run for reelection. Shannan Sutter received 19 percent of the votes for Place 4.
 
In Place 6, Incumbent Ronnie Johnson earned 58.55 percent of the vote to challenger Jason Morse's 41.45 percent.
 
Early voting for the Place 4 runoff election will take place Monday-Friday, June 5-9, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and June 12-13 (Monday-Tuesday), 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Election Day is Saturday, June 17, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. All voting is at Burleson City Hall, 141 W. Renfro St.

Utility Billing Customer Service closed 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m., May 17
The Utility Customer Service office will be closed from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 17. Customers can pay their bill 24 hours a day, seven days a week using the city's online option.

BRiCk Program of the Month
Homeschool PE at the BRiCk

Tuesdays and Thursdays are active and fun at the Burleson Recreation Center. Starting at 9:00 a.m. the BRiCk staff hosts Homeschool PE. The fun includes gym games, swimming, parties and more. The recreation center has seen this program grow in the past several years and encourage other homeschoolers to join them. Call the BRiCk at 817-426-9104 for more information.
Links Fore Literacy Golf Tournament
The Third Annual Links Fore Literacy Golf Tournament sponsored by the Friends of the Burleson Library will be held Friday, May 19, at  Hidden Creek Golf Course, 555 E. Hidden Creek Pkwy.

Registration begins at 11 a.m., lunch is served at noon and the tournament begins at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start. 

Cost is $75 for a single player and $300 for a team of four. Register today
City's ambulance service offers membership
The city partners with MedStar Mobile Healthcare for all of its ambulance transports. The ambulance service is now offering MedStar Saver, a membership that is available to anyone who lives or works in the MedStar service area. This program can protect your entire household with unlimited emergency transports for the full year of your active membership.

The average cost for an emergency transport is more than $1,500, even with insurance coverage. 

Pet of the Week
Meet Burrito, an 11-year-old Jack Russel Terrier who is looking for his new home. Burrito had a severe flea allergy, but the shelter has treated him for it.
