Russell Farm Art Center Celebrates

Art Studio Ribbon Cutting

Russell Farm Art Center celebrated the official ribbon cutting of the new Art Studio, marking the completion of a project that transformed a former storage space into a vibrant hub for creativity and connection.

The 600-square-foot studio, once a garage used for seasonal decor, now features an art supply closet, kitchen, working artist’s space and gallery walls showcasing local artwork. One of the most unique design elements is the preserved shadow of the original staircase that once led to a loft. The ceiling was also opened to reveal the beautiful original woodwork of the vaulted structure, blending the farm’s history with a fresh, modern design.

Plans for the project began in 2023, when an architect drafted the studio’s design. That same year, the artist group that regularly meets at Russell Farm raised $15,000 in support of the project. The remainder of the funding was graciously donated by a private donor.

City Ground-Based Mosquito Spraying In Zone 10

The city of Burleson was notified that mosquitoes in Zone 10 tested positive for West Nile Virus this week. In response, the city will conduct two nights of ground-based spraying for mosquitoes in the zone between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. on the nights of Friday, October 10, and Saturday, October 11, wind and weather permitting. The ground spraying will be performed by trucks equipped with sprayers in targeted subdivisions within the designated spray zone. For more information call 817-426-9848. This brings us to a total of 24 West Nile positives and one St. Louis encephalitis positive during the 2025 season.

Third-Party Drone Delivery Service

Launching In Burleson

Beginning Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the Burleson Walmart Supercenter (951 SW Wilshire Blvd.) will offer an additional grocery/retail delivery option operated by Zipline, a third-party drone-delivery provider.

Because this is a third-party service operating on private property, the city’s role is limited to ensuring compliance with existing zoning and site plan requirements. However, the city has provided answers to some possible questions that residents may have once they begin seeing drones in the area.

Burleson And Groundwork Development

Partners Announce Landmark $1 Billion

Master-Planned Community

The city of Burleson and Groundwork Development Partners are thrilled to announce a transformative partnership that will bring a premier, multi-generational master-planned community, Tallgrass, to the city’s western gateway. Spanning more than 621 acres at the interchange of the Chisholm Trail Parkway at FM 1902, this visionary development represents more than $1 billion in investment and will deliver approximately 4,000 new residential units and 1 million square feet of commercial development in a dynamic, multi-generational, mixed-use community.

Tallgrass is designed to be more than just a neighborhood — it’s a destination. A place to connect with family and friends, celebrate art and nature, pursue career opportunities, and enjoy an exceptional quality of life. Anchored by the motto “Where Roots Run Deep,” Tallgrass reflects a deep commitment to community, heritage and future growth.

In addition to residential housing, the project will feature a future Joshua ISD elementary school, more than 1 million square feet of employment, retail and commercial space, and a signature town center. Residents and visitors will also enjoy five miles of trails and 90 acres of parks, open space and community amenities, making Tallgrass a true live-work-play environment.

Alsbury Boulevard Reopened to Traffic

As of Monday, Oct. 6, Alsbury Boulevard has reopened to one lane in each direction between S.W. Hulen Street and Candler Drive following the completion of railroad upgrades by Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF).

Although the roadway is now open, contractors remain active in the area as additional improvements continue. Drivers are encouraged to continue using caution and follow posted signage while work wraps up.

The city of Burleson thanks residents for their patience and cooperation throughout the project.

Feel Good Friday

Football brings people together, and in Burleson, a friendly competition between Burleson High School and Centennial High School scored something good for the community.

As part of the Peanut Butter Bowl, a statewide campaign started in San Antonio that uses football season to fight hunger, students rallied their classmates and student council groups to collect as many jars of peanut butter as possible.

Together, they donated a staggering 4,467 jars to Harvest House, helping feed local families and support some of Burleson’s most vulnerable residents.

Burleson Independent School District is the first district in North Texas to take part in this growing effort, and their impact didn’t go unnoticed—NBC DFW featured the story on its Wake Up to Something Good segment, spotlighting how local students are making a difference off the field.

Beautiful Burleson Photo of the Week

Rebecca Byrd shared this beautiful photo of the sun breaking through the clouds, casting its rays over a field of wildflowers along Oak Valley Trail behind Bransom Elementary.
