Chino City Council Dedicates Plaque Honoring Late Mayor Dennis Yates

CHINO, CA (August 19, 2026) -- Mayor Eunice Ulloa and the Chino City Council joined the Yates family and members of the Chino Pop Warner community to officially dedicate a plaque honoring the late Mayor Dennis Yates during the Chino Pop Warner opening day ceremony on Saturday, August 15 at Ayala Park.

The plaque stands at the entrance to Yates Field, which was dedicated in August 2020 — another part of Mayor Yates' legacy and a testament to his enduring love of Pop Warner football. He was a dedicated volunteer for Chino Pop Warner, serving in various capacities for nearly three decades as president, coach, announcer, and mentor to countless young athletes.

"With the dedication of this plaque, I am proud to help carry forward the spirit of service Mayor Dennis Yates gave so freely to the community he loved,” said Chino Mayor Eunice Ulloa. “I know his legacy lives on in every coach, every volunteer, and every touchdown our young athletes make on the field.”

Mayor Dennis Yates was first elected to the Chino City Council in 1992, and he served as Mayor from 2004 until he retired from the Council in 2016. Throughout his years of public service, he became known for his deep commitment to Chino and its residents.

Mayor Yates passed away on September 7, 2024, at the age of 79.
