CHINO, CA (April 29, 2026) -- Chino celebrated the spirit of volunteerism during the annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner on Tuesday, April 28, at the Chaffey College Chino Community Center.  

In honor of National Volunteer Month, the City of Chino recognized the thousands of everyday community members who have lent their time to ensure Chino continues to be a great place to call home. 

The numbers tell the story: over the past year, the City of Chino hosted 1,396 volunteers who collectively dedicated 18,776 hours of service to the community, valued at approximately $673,000. Chino’s volunteers helped our community thrive by assisting with special events, after-school programming, senior services, coaching, counseling, and more.  

“The true mark of a successful City lies in its volunteers," said Chino Mayor Eunice Ulloa. "Whether it’s joining a board or commission, assisting City staff at events and activities, coaching a team, or helping children, families, or seniors in need, the impact of our volunteers is felt in every corner of our community. On behalf of the City Council, thank you for your service to Chino!”  

During the Volunteer Recognition Dinner, the City recognized individuals and groups who had a positive impact on our community. The City presented awards to the following people:  

• Youth Volunteer of the Year - Flor Hernandez 
• Social Services Volunteer of the Year - Yanli (Ellie) Wu 
• Municipal Services Volunteers of the Year – Steve and Denise Parker 
• Safety Services Volunteer of the Year - Brian Pattison 
• Sports Volunteer of the Year - Albert Caldera  
• Senior Services Volunteer of the Year - Mary Harshfield
