UPDATE: Assault with a Deadly Weapon on Officers Results in Officer-Involved Shooting

On Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at approximately 4:05 am, Chino Police officers located a commercial truck hauling a stolen commercial trailer in the area of Ramona Avenue and Edison Avenue.  Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver of the commercial truck failed to stop. The driver of the truck intentionally drove over the front of a Chino Police vehicle with an officer still inside. The commercial truck was disabled, and two suspects fled from it. As officers pursued the suspects, one suspect entered an awaiting vehicle which then drove directly at Chino Police officers at a high rate of speed, narrowly missing one of the officers. At this time an officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect vehicle fled and at least two suspects were outstanding. One suspect was taken into custody at the scene and no Chino Police officers were injured.

Detectives from the Chino Police Department conducted extensive follow-up investigation resulting in two additional suspects being arrested, including a suspect believed to be the driver of the getaway car that attempted to run over officers. The suspects, Jesus Santoyo (Age 19 from Cudahy), Jose Badajoz (Age 28 from Los Angeles), and Hector Olivas (Age 18 from Bell Gardens) were subsequently booked at the West Valley Detention Center on charges of PC 245(c) Assault with a Deadly Weapon on Police Officers, PC 496(a) Possession of Stolen Property, and PC 182 Conspiracy. None of the suspects were injured during this incident.
