Dear Champions,

One year ago, the COVID-19 pandemic turned the world as we knew it upside down. 

Our residents and business owners have been challenged in new ways, but as Champions, we came together to support each other and pull through.

I’d like to take a few moments to reflect on the city’s victories this past year, despite all the hardships.

Clermont Earth Day Lake Clean-Up & Festival

Celebrate Earth Day as a community 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Sat., April 24 at Lake Hiawatha Preserve. This free event features a Lake Clean-up with environmental education, a kids zone, music, free food, giveaways and more.
Police Host 5K Honoring Fallen Officer

Join us 5:30 p.m. Sat., April 17 at Suncreek Brewery downtown for the first annual 5K in honor of the late Officer Conrad Buckley. The event raises scholarship funds in his honor in partnership with Kiwanis Club of South Lake and FloDash Events.
Master Plan Streetscape Phase 2 Continues

Construction currently is in progress on Minneola Avenue between 7th and 8th streets downtown. Legacy Loop Trail and businesses remain open.

First Junior Park Rangers Event a Hit

Over 40 kids enjoyed exploring, learning and seeing what it takes to protect Clermont’s parks March 20 at Lake Hiawatha Preserve.
State Recognizes Clermont for Bicycle Friendliness

The Florida Department of Transportation recently honored the City of Clermont with a Community Champion Award for bicyclist safety.
Bingo Goes Virtual, Gains Popularity

Bringing the city's bingo program online more than doubled participation. The fourth 10-week series starts April 1. Email [email protected] to register.
City Welcomes New Businesses

Lots of new businesses are popping up around town. The South Lake Chamber of Commerce held ribbon cuttings this month in Clermont for Fazoli's (pictured), Rheumatology Care Associates, Brijcare Family Medicine, DNF Medical Centers and Orlando Web Solutions.
Champions Splash Park Opens for Spring

Champions Splash Park, 330 Third St., is open for spring hours! Enjoy the park for a $2 admission per person 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays-Sundays through May 30.

Movies Under the Stars Continues

Join us for this free, rain-or-shine event happening 8 p.m. at Waterfront Park, 330 3rd St., the following dates:
  •  "The Karate Kid" is showing April 30.
  •  "Ugly Dolls" is showing May 21.
Police to Host Public Safety Youth Academy

Participants will learn about law enforcement and perform exercises like investigations, evidence collection, defense tactics, judicial process and more.
