- Single public-facing projects and events
- Permanent public art installations
Grant application windows run throughout the year, including March 4–31 and June 1–30. Local artists, nonprofits, businesses, and schools are encouraged to apply.

City of Duncanville Launches Updated Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) Funds Application Process
The City of Duncanville is introducing a new and easier way to apply for Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) funds. These funds help support events and activities that bring overnight visitors to Duncanville. The updated process is designed to be simple, clear, and easy to follow.
HOT funds can be used by nonprofits, event organizers, and community partners who plan events that attract visitors who stay in Duncanville hotels. To help applicants, the City has updated its process with fillable forms, clear instructions, and a step-by-step guide to the application process.
The application period opens March 1 and closes at 4:00 PM on April 15. Applications must be complete and submitted on time to be considered. Late submissions will not be accepted. Funding is for events taking place in the next fiscal year (FY2027), October 1, 2027, to September 30, 2027.
Before applying, applicants should review the eligibility requirements and complete the Two-Step worksheet to confirm their event qualifies. A complete application packet includes the application form, a marketing plan, and a budget. All materials must be emailed to the City’s new HOT Funds contact at HOTAdmin@duncanvilletx.gov.
After applications close, City staff will review submissions between April 15 and April 30. Some applicants may be invited to interviews in May. Final funding decisions will be considered later in the summer, with budget approval expected between July and August.
HOT funds are paid as reimbursements. After an approved event is completed, recipients must submit a post-event report within 30 days. Once the report is approved, reimbursement will be issued within 30 days.

City of Duncanville Awards
FY 2025–2026 Second Quarter Arts Grants
DUNCANVILLE, TX – The City of Duncanville has approved a new round of arts grants for Fiscal Year 2025–2026, Second Quarter, supporting a diverse slate of projects that will engage residents, activate public spaces, and highlight local and regional creative talent. The awards were recommended by the Duncanville Arts Commission following its review of applications submitted during the December 2025 grant period and were approved by the City Council on February 17, 2026.
Funded projects include arts education, live performance, literary programming, public art, and special events designed to benefit the Duncanville community:

“These grants reflect our continued commitment to cultivating a vibrant arts ecosystem that tells Duncanville’s story, supports local businesses, and creates meaningful experiences for residents and visitors of all ages,” said Mayor Greg Contreras. “From ballet and music to literary and public art projects, these programs will help strengthen our sense of community and place.”
The Duncanville Arts Commission evaluated all eligible applications based on established Arts Funding Policy and Grant Guidelines and provided funding recommendations to the City Council for consideration. The Council’s approval affirms the City’s support for projects that demonstrate public benefit, artistic quality, strong community partnerships, and alignment with Duncanville’s cultural and economic development goals.
“The Arts Commission is proud to recommend a slate of projects that are as diverse as Duncanville itself,” said the Duncanville Arts Commission Chair Angela Thorpe-Harris. “These awards will help bring new voices, new stories, and new experiences into our neighborhoods, schools, and business districts.”
The Second Quarter awards build on the City’s ongoing efforts to expand access to arts and culture, encourage collaboration among artists and organizations, and ensure transparent and accountable use of public funds. The next arts grant application window is now open March 4–30, and eligible artists, nonprofits, businesses, and schools are encouraged to apply now.
