Cool off at city fire hydrants this week

The City of Easton wants to help you cool down during this week's heatwave. Now through Sunday 7/24, we are opening fire hydrants and attaching sprinkler-heads to them at the locations listed in the graphic. They will run daily from noon - 6 pm. Enjoy!

Centre Square Renovation Project Update

The next phase of the Centre Square Renovation Project is underway and features improvements to the four approaches to Centre Square - north and south 3rd St., and west and east Northampton St.

N. 3rd St. from Church St. to Centre Square will continue to be closed to traffic through Thursday, July 28. When that roadway reopens, the 200 block of Northampton St. between Centre Square and Sitgreaves St. will be the next block to be closed for roadwork starting on Friday, July 29 until approximately mid-August.

Work being done inside the circle will include permanently reducing its two traffic lanes to a single lane, which then will be repaved and painted with new pavement markings. Improvements will also be made to the quadrants, sidewalks, and curb ramps. Traffic signals will be upgraded using red-yellow-green signaling. The renovation project is on track to be completed this fall.

Using Ask the Bugler is an easy & fast way

to get the answers you need

Ask the Bugler

So far more than 400 searches have been done through our new web site tool, Ask the Bugler, since it was launched in mid-May. Residents and visitors are getting answers to their questions, finding information on city services, and submitting service requests.

It can be accessed on our website where both desktop and mobile users can find it on the bottom right section of their browser window. Clicking on the icon launches a chat window, prompting you to enter questions or service requests. Another option is to start a conversation with Ask the Bugler by text message. Text the word “Hello” to (877) 705-1752. Ask the Bugler can also be used to submit a message directly to city staff.

Centre Square receives new biofiltration system for stormwater

If you've driven through Centre Square in the last few weeks, you may have seen what look like large white tote bags filled with something next to pipes sticking out of the ground.

That is the city's latest MS4 project which features the installation of two biofiltation systems for stormwater. Watch this video overview with City Engineer Steve DeSalva to learn more about it.

Poison ivy on KSAT

On Monday, July 25 (rain date - Tuesday 7/26) from 8 am - noon, the city will be spraying to kill poison ivy along the Karl Stirner Arts Trail. It has grown aggressively this year, so this measure is being taken to protect the public.

During that time, the trail will be closed between the pedestrian footbridge at Silk up to the labyrinth. Please avoid the area.
