Senior Citizen Resources
The City of Elmhurst has compiled the following list of resources for senior citizens , including senior shopping hours at grocery stores and pharmacies, details about food banks, and contact information for local organizations that are focused on providing senior assistance. If senior citizen information does not apply to you directly, we are hoping residents will share this information with senior citizens they know.

Anxiety, stress and fear are common mental health issues that many of us are facing at this time. If you or someone you know (adults or children) are experiencing fear and anxiety about coronavirus please review the CDC’s information about  Mental Health and Coping with COVID-19.
COVID-19 Impacts on Transit and Shared Mobility
Cities all over the world are reviewing the impacts that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on transit and shared mobility.  Although public transit ridership overall is down, especially in areas where the shelter-in-place restrictions are in place, some forms of mobility like bike and scooter sharing saw an increase in ridership.    The Shared-Use Mobility Center published a Case Study  on these findings.  The study reports on the general trends of public transit and ride share, including Uber and Lyft and the new policies that protect customers and allow for social distancing. The case study explains how the overall interconnectedness of all modes of transportation is clear now more than ever and that walking and biking have become a more viable option as people look for safe and convenient ways to get to where they need to go.
Giving DuPage
There are many volunteer opportunities for Elmhurst residents to help their community respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Giving DuPage is currently coordinating multiple charitable and community service organizations that all have urgent needs. Many volunteer organizations rely heavily on dedicated senior citizens who are most at risk from COVID-19. Please go to the GivingDuPage volunteer needs portal to fill in for those who have had to step back.
