Outstanding Senior Award

Do you know an outstanding senior who volunteers for your organization? The Elmhurst Senior Citizens Commission is seeking nominations for the Outstanding Senior Citizen Service Award.

The nominations will be reviewed and scored anonymously by independent judges.

All volunteers, nominators, and guests will be invited to the City of Elmhurst Service Award Program at City Hall on November 9, 2023. Nomination forms are available at Elmhurst City Hall or online at elmhurst.org.

Citizens Police Academy Fall Session Starting Soon

Citizen’s Police Academy is a 12-week program designed to give Elmhurst residents a general overview of law enforcement practices and a behind-the-scenes look at their police department. The program provides participants with a better understanding of challenges faced by police officers in the field along with insight into the handling of certain types of incidents. Many of the classes offer opportunities for hands-on participation with actual police equipment and training procedures.

Classes are held from 6:30 to 9:30 PM on consecutive Wednesday evenings for 12 weeks. The next session will run from August 30 through November 15, 2023. The program is free of charge but is limited to 25 students per session. Participants must be over the age of twenty-one and must live or work in the City of Elmhurst. To apply for the Elmhurst CPA program, please access our printable online application at Elmhurst.org/citizenspoliceacademy or call us at 630-530-3050. You can also email us at policeinfo@elmhurst.org or stop by the Elmhurst Police Station to obtain an application or more information.

ComEd Tree Trimming

ComEd intends to perform vegetation management activities throughout Elmhurst within the next few months. The vegetation management activities are a key component of ComEd’s maintenance program to ensure system electrical reliability, as vegetation contact with ComEd equipment is a leading cause of outages. A courtesy notification will be sent to residents in the affected area. An example of the ComEd letter and map can be found on Elmhurst.org.
