Holiday Safety Reminders During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Since COVID-19 has impacted our society, we have missed out on many community and family traditions. We understand that this year, holiday gatherings may not be what anyone had hoped for, however we are asking our community members to take the safety precautions necessary to protect themselves, their friends, family and our community from COVID-19. Before you celebrate, please consider this Holiday Season Safety information provided by IDPH.
The end of the year brings such great joy and the opportunity to express season’s greetings and good wishes. It’s been quite a year and we are thankful to be serving in such a supportive and fantastic community. The Elmhurst City Council and City Staff wish you all a wonderful holiday season and a happy and healthy new year!

City Hall will be closed for the holidays at noon on Thursday, December 24th and all day on Friday, December 25th as well as all day on Friday, January 1st. If your refuse collection day is Friday, service will be delayed by one day after Christmas and New Year's Day.
Disposing of Holiday Trees & Refuse Christmas trees will be picked up without a refuse sticker if placed at the curb on your regular refuse collection day during the first and second week in January. After that, a sticker is required. All ornaments, lights, tinsel, and nails must be removed. Trees may not be placed in plastic bags. Wrapping paper, packing peanuts, garlands, and wreaths may be included with regular refuse. Boxes may be recycled if they measure no more than three feet by three feet, have been flattened, and bagged or bundled.
