Across Our Community

Hello Everett,
As we welcome November, we’re reminded that this is truly the season of thanks. It's a time to come together with friends, family, and neighbors to reflect on all that we’re grateful for. Thanksgiving offers a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our community spirit and extend a helping hand to those in need.
One of my favorite traditions this time of year is the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner at the Connolly Center, where residents, volunteers, and community partners gather to share a warm meal and great company.
This month, the City is stepping up to make sure no one goes hungry. We’re working closely with our community partners to provide free hot meals twice a week, deliver groceries to households in need, and connect residents with additional local food programs. To make these resources easier to find, we’ve created a curated list of food assistance options available in and around Everett. No one in our community should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from, and we’re committed to doing our part to help.
We also pause this month to honor and thank all those who have served our country. I invite everyone, especially our veterans, to join us for the City’s Veterans Day Ceremony and Luncheon as we express our deepest gratitude for their service and sacrifice.
Finally, a reminder that Election Day is Tuesday, November 4. Participating in our democratic process is one of the most meaningful ways we can contribute to our community's future. I encourage all residents to make their voices heard by casting their vote.
I wish you and your loved ones a safe, joyful, and meaningful Thanksgiving.
As always, my office is here to help. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Thank you for reading, and thank you for being such an important part of our Everett community.

The City of Everett has been awarded $100,000 in the FY2026 state budget to make our community more inclusive for neurodivergent residents.
What does “neurodivergent” mean? It refers to individuals whose brains process information differently than typical patterns, including people with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, sensory processing differences, and other cognitive or developmental variations.
This earmark, sponsored by State Representative Joe McGonagle and requested by the City’s DEI Department, supports Mayor Carlo DeMaria's Everett for Everyone initiative.
“Supporting our neurodivergent residents is central to building a more inclusive, welcoming Everett for all, and this funding helps us take real steps towards that goal,” said Mayor DeMaria.
Through the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services, the funding will help the City:
• Conduct a citywide equity and accessibility assessment
• Provide staff and stakeholder trainings
• Offer sensory-friendly equipment for events and public spaces
• Expand out-of-school time support
• Deliver resources for caregivers and families
…and more!
| | Free Parking for Seniors Coming in 2026 | | |
Starting in 2026, residents aged 65 and older will be able to apply for a Free Senior Meter Sticker allowing free parking in public spaces across the city.
Stay tuned this December for details on how to apply and when City staff will be visiting the Connolly Center and local senior housing locations to share more about the program.

As the temperatures start to drop, now’s the perfect time to give your heating system a quick test run! Turning it on early helps spot any issues before the real cold sets in and gives the City time to connect you with help if something’s not working right.
Plus, here’s some good news for residents who use heat pumps: National Grid’s new heat pump rates took effect on November 1, which means lower electric bills during the winter months.
A little early prep and a new rate plan. Now, that’s something to feel warm about!
