Age Well Center at South Fremont Opening Soon
The Age Well Center at South Fremont is set to open to guests on Wednesday, September 15! With continuing COVID-19 protocols, the center will be open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Some classes will be offered remotely.
Help us decide what classes and events should be offered at the Age Well Center at South Fremont by completing a short survey! Your feedback will shape our programing designed for adults 55+. The survey takes approximately less than 10 minutes to complete. You can complete the survey online here. Surveys will also be available at the welcome desk.

Afghan Refugee Help
The City of Fremont’s Human Services Department is raising money to provide direct assistance to Afghan refugees who are arriving to the Tri-City area from Afghanistan.

The Afghan Refugee Help fund will be managed by the City's Human Services Department, which will work with local Afghan partner organizations to determine the priorities and needs of those new arrivals to our Country. Funds will be used for housing, food, clothing, and other items or services to assist refugees expected to arrive in our area.

Normal Aging and Ways of Improving Memory on Zoom

Have you spent time searching for your keys, wallet, eyeglasses or something else important? It is important to understand that our brains change over time, and it is helpful to be able to distinguish normal changes from those that require medical and psychological attention. Join the City of Fremont, Family Caregiver Support Program to learn to increase knowledge about understanding normal changes in memory as we age. Discuss strategies identified by scientists to minimize age related changes and improve everyday memory functions.

In celebration of National Senior Center Month the Age Well Center at Lake Elizabeth has three special activities planned.


9/14 — Favorite Sports Team Attire Day Wear clothing from your favorite sports team and represent.
9/21 — Fremont Pride Colors Wear blue, white or green which are the colors of the City of Fremont’s logo.
9/28 — Cultural Appreciation/ Travels Day Wear your favorite cultural attire or t-shirt from a place you’ve enjoyed traveling to.

Who doesn’t love crafts? Come be inspired and have fun! Get creative and learn a crafty new skill or polish an old one. Classes are taught so that all levels of experience can enjoy creating. The instructor will inspire your inner artist! This class is sponsored by Cogir of Fremont.
Yoga

Join this class to obtain the powerful benefits of exercise! Yoga focuses on your body’s natural tendency toward health and self-healing. The instructor, Dr. Sunderrajan, is a certified yoga teacher and has been teaching yoga for 15 years. She uses Vinyasa Flow and Hatha styles of yoga and her classes consist of breath awareness, seated warmups, asanas (posture), pranayama (breathing exercises) and guided relaxation. Please bring your own mat.
Heartfulness Meditation

Heartfulness is a heart centered approach to life where you live each moment by the heart. It's focus is to live naturally in tune with the qualities of a heart enlightened and refined through spiritual practices (mediation). The teaching consists of breathing affirmations, guided relaxation, centering the mind in the area of the heart and meditating on it to experience the joy of love and light. The instructor, Dr. Sunderrajan, is trained meditation teacher and has been teaching for many years. Please bring a mat or cushion for this class.
