Buffalo Bill Days kicks off on July 27 and the fun lasts all weekend. As one of the most popular festivals of the year in Golden, Buffalo Bill Days draws folks from all over the region for shows, a parade, music and lots of family-friendly fun. Scroll down to see a full schedule of events, as well as a parade map to help you plan out your weekend.

This will be a busy weekend in Golden, so have fun and stay safe!

Current Projects
2018 Utilities Replacement

Work is being done on water main replacement between 4th and 5th from Cheyenne to Arapahoe Alley. Also, work continues on the  S. Golden Rd and Johnson Rd water main pipe.
CSM Road Closure

16th Street from Illinois to Arapahoe Streets will be closed by the Colorado School of Mines until mid-August for stormwater and street improvements.

2018 Street Improvement Program

Martin Marietta has completed 75% of this year's program. They will return in mid-September to complete the remainder of the street paving for this year.

2018 Concrete Replacement Program

Fasick Concrete has completed work in advance of the street improvement program. They are currently completing sidewalk backfill and clean up. They will return in early to mid-August to continue replacing damaged concrete in various locations around the city.

The Local Licensing Board will meet Wednesday, July 25 at 2:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at 911 10th St.

Community Sustainability Advisory Board Meeting
 
The Community Sustainability Advisory Board will meet Wednesday, July 25 at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers at 911 10th St.

At the meeting, CSAB members will consider the following:
  • Revisions to the Sustainability Goals
  • Energy Goals Discussion
  • Energy Advisor Strategy

City Council Meeting
 
The City Council will meet Thursday, July 26 at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at 911 10th St. Please note this week's delayed start at 7 p.m.

At the meeting, City Council will consider the following:
  • Consent Matters - All items listed under Consent Matters are considered to be routine and will be enacted by one motion and vote. To see all items included in the motion, please see the meeting agenda.
  • Discussion will  occur on the City's overall financial condition, as well as on a fund by fund basis.
  • Council will consider a preliminary draft of, and conduct a public hearing for, the 2019 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).
  • Council will consider a request to rezone certain land located at 18201 West 10th Avenue from C2, Commercial and RE, Residential to PUD within the City of Golden, as petitioned by PSCO. Council will conduct a public hearing on the request at the meeting.
  • City Council will consider a request to make recommended changes to Title 18 related to Community Mixed Use (CMU) Zoning Requirements found in Chapters 18.28 and 18.40. Council will conduct a public hearing on the request at the meeting. 
  • City Council will consider fee changes to the City's Residential Waste and Recycling Collection Program to recover expected contractor fee increases and cart purchases.
  • Following Council's recent approval of Comprehensive Plan policies that address housing affordability in the community, Planning Commission and staff have been working to define potential next steps to improve affordable options in Golden, particularly related to program funding and regulatory changes. 

Following regular business, Council will adjourn into executive session.

IMPACT Personal Safety of Colorado Silent Auction & Fundraiser
 
Come out on Thursday, July 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. for food, drink, a silent auction and community in a fundraiser to benefit  IMPACT Personal Safety of Colorado. This community event is open to the public, and is hosted by YourAshtanga located in the Golden Solar building at 612 10th St, Golden, CO.
  • Free admission
  • Silent auction features goods and services from area businesses (must be present at 7:30 p.m. to be the winning bid)
  • Burgers and beverages available for a cash donation (beer, wine, soft drinks)
  • Free pass good for one yoga class for all attendees
  • Free parking in the adjacent CoorsTek parking lot
IMPACT Personal Safety of Colorado is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to empowerment and choice, empowering participants with emotional, verbal and physical skills to move freely in the world.

IMPACT Personal Safety of Colorado envisions a world in which human beings deeply and authentically connect by declaring individual boundaries and reclaiming inherent rights and responsibilities to universal safety and well-being.

All proceeds from this event will benefit  IMPACT Personal Safety Colorado.

Buffalo Bill Days 2018
The annual Buffalo Bill Days celebration kicks off this week, July 27 - 29! This tradition dates back to the 1940's as a trail ride up Lookout Mountain to Buffalo Bill's grave.

Over the years the celebration has expanded with more activities and multiple days of fun - it is now the largest community festival held in Golden, drawing people from all over the region for family-friendly fun.

Be A Tool Day of Service
 
Be a Tool Day of Service 2018
2018 marks the 8th year of the Neighborhood Rehab Project's annual Be A Tool Day of Service.  Neighborhood Rehab Project continues to provide a platform of opportunity for all ages, skill levels and passions to come together for the common purpose of helping a neighbor in need on the 2nd Saturday of September. It is also an opportunity for local businesses to give back to the community in tangible ways by volunteering services, supplies or their time for the day.  
 
Focusing on safe, dry and warm issues for elderly, disabled, veteran or financially burdened homeowners, project examples include decks, stairs, doors, windows and roof repair.
 
The date for this year's Be A Tool Day of Service is September 8, 2018 but registration opens July 29, 2018.

Comb your 'stache and pump up your tires! The Golden Bicycle Cruise is back for another fun night of music, beer, food, and the always popular costume-themed cruise rides around Golden - this time it's all about the mighty Moustache with music by Thunder and Rain!

This family friendly event, sponsored by the Golden Community Commons group, takes place on the last Tuesday of the month, which means next Tuesday, July 31. Gather at 6 p.m. in the parking lot next to the library for music, food and beer. Ride starts at 7 p.m. and ends back at the library lot where the fun continues until 9:30 pm.

Every week our Golden branch of the Jefferson County Public Library, located at 1019 10th Street, features events and classes for all ages, from DIY Labs to Book Clubs to creative and educational workshops.

The Splash modified hours this weekend
 
The Splash will have modified hours this weekend from Friday through Sunday for the State Summer Club Swim Meet:
  • Friday, July 27 - Lap Pool CLOSES at noon. The Leisure Pool open regular schedule, 10 a.m - 6:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 28 and Sunday, July 29 - Splash will be CLOSED for State Summer Club Swim Meet. No public swim these two days in either pool.

From Roundabouts to Right Hooks, Lights to Lanes, we'll highlight the law and show you tips on how to operate a car or bicycle safely and hopefully stress-free.

Sign up for the Dash at the Splash - last chance for the early bird rate!
 
Kids, get excited, it's your chance to shine! The eighth annual Dash at the Splash Kid's Triathlon is coming up in August, and registration is open now.  Kids get the opportunity to challenge themselves to swimming, biking and running on a course especially designed for kids. 

The age groups are 11-12 years, 9-10 years, and 8 and under. The age category will determine distances in each event that the child will compete.  Start practicing today by taking your child out on a bike ride, hike, or play games in one of the many parks around town. 

Splash Aquatic Park has lap lanes that are open daily, or check out the indoor aquatics facility at the Golden Community Center. Sign up before July 27 and get the early bird rate of $30. The Dash at the Splash is at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11.
