Current Projects
Streetlight Purchase

A streetlight purchase agreement has been finalized with Public Service Company of Colorado and the agreement to purchase streetlights citywide will go to City Council on June 14.

City-wide Cured-in-Place begins this week.   Cured-In-Place Pipe is a pipe rehabilitation technique that we use to upgrade sewer mains. It involves inserting a fiberglass and epoxy liner in the pipe, curing the epoxy and reinstating (cutting open) any attached service lines.

This technique does not require open trenching and the contractor can rehab about 1,000 feet of pipe per day vs. about 200/300 feet per day by open trenching. This also avoids long term traffic disruptions, dust and stormwater problems and asphalt patching.
Tree Trimming

Crews are going through all city alleys trimming trees.  They will then inspect, patch, and re-mill the alleyways that need it.
CSM Road Closure

16th Street from Illinois to Arapahoe Streets will be closed by the Colorado School of Mines until mid-August for stormwater and street improvements.

Concrete Replacement Program

Concrete work is continuing on 20th Street from Jackson Street to Washington Avenue.
Street Improvement Program

Even with slight weather delays, work is progressing throughout the city.  Many streets are currently in various stages of work.

Around Town
New Bike Share Pilot Program in Golden

The City of Golden now has another alternative transportation option for commuters. Yesterday, ofo, the world's first and largest dockless shared mobility company, launched a bike share program in Golden. This one-year pilot program with ofo is an opportunity for the Golden community to try out a new form of bike sharing that will complement our existing options including the Golden Bike Library and the Call & Ride local circulator bus.

The dockless bikes are an easy and fun way to take short trips around town. When you find one of the bright yellow bikes, all you have to do is download the ofo app on your phone, use it to locate a nearby bike, scan the code on the bike, and for just $1 per hour, off you go. Find details at www.ofo.com. You will find the dockless bikes near bus and transit stops, on the campus of the Colorado School of Mines, and many other popular destinations throughout town. People can use them for short trips that might otherwise require a car.

Golden received a federal grant in 2015 to start its own version of bike share to fit the community. The first phase was the Golden Bike Library, which is very successful and well received in Golden. The second phase of the plan is a distributed system so that bikes would be available throughout the community. The partnership with ofo bikes helps the City achieve this second phase. On June 7, 2018, Golden City Council unanimously approved the pilot program for one year, and it will be under close evaluation to ensure a good fit with Golden.

Inspections last about 90 minutes, but could help you save thousands of gallons of water each year. It's easy to sign up and get long-lasting results! Simply call 303-999-3824 or sign up at  resourcecentral.org/sprinkler .
Golden History Museum Grand Reopening

The Museum is located at 923 10th St.

Whether you've been to GHM many times or never before, this will be a whole new experience.  All of the exhibits and displays are new, there are many hands-on areas, and for the first time, the work that's done behind the scenes to restore artifacts will now be in plain view.  For more information and details call 303-278-3557 or visit GoldenHistory.org.
