Meet Baby Green!

Baby bird at the Splash
A couple of weeks ago we shared about a Mourning Dove who made her nest in the lane lines at The Splash. Mourning Doves are a protected species under the Federal Migratory Bird Act, which means that the nest couldn't be moved without a permit from the Division of Wildlife, so we cordoned it off with caution tape to protect mama bird and her eggs until they hatched.

Well, we have good news! Meet the newest member of The Splash - Green! Baby Green looks big already, but only hatched last week. It takes 11 to 14 days from hatching for baby Mourning Doves to fledge and leave the nest, so we'll enjoy this little one's company for a little while longer.

In other news, there's lots happening this weekend, including the long awaited grand reopening of the Golden History Museum and Free Day. Keep reading for more information, and h ave a great week!

Current Projects

City-wide Cured in Place began last week. Work on Pine Ridge Rd and Hwy 93 completed on June 15. Johnson Rd work is scheduled for the week of June 25.

Cured In Place Pipe is a pipe rehabilitation technique that we use to upgrade sewer mains. It involves inserting a fiberglass and epoxy liner in the pipe, curing the epoxy and reinstating (cutting open) any attached service lines.

This technique does not require open trenching and the contractor can rehab about 1,000 feet of pipe per day vs about 200/300 feet per day by open trenching. This also avoids long-term traffic disruptions, dust and stormwater problems and asphalt patching.
CSM Road Closure

16th Street from Illinois to Arapahoe Streets will be closed by the Colorado School of Mines until mid-August for stormwater and street improvements.

Concrete Replacement Program

Concrete work is continuing on 20th Street from Jackson Street to Washington Avenue.
Street Improvement Program

Work is progressing throughout the city - and we are looking to possibly add a few more streets later in the summer.

Streets listed below should be completed soon.
