Around Town
Mama Bird Makes her Nest at The Splash!

A Mourning Dove has chosen the lane lines at The Splash to make her nest. Mourning Doves are a protected species under the Federal Migratory Bird Act which means that the nest cannot be moved without a permit from the Division of Wildlife. The nest has been cordoned off with caution tape to protect mama bird and her eggs until they hatch. Mourning Doves lay two white eggs, which generally hatch in 14 - 15 days. It will take another 11 - 14 days until the babies "fledge" and leave the nest. So for now we are keeping a watchful eye over mama bird and her nest. If you come by Splash, try not to get too close to the nest, and help think up some names for the chicks!

Kids' Bike Rodeo June 16

Get a safe start to summer! The City of Golden is partnering with Bicycle Colorado for a Kids' Bike Rodeo. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Coors Tek parking lot on the corner of 10th and Jackson Streets (across the street from Parfet Park).
Children do not need to bring bikes, but should bring helmets if they have them. Bicycle Colorado will assist with proper helmet fitting for children. This is a great opportunity for children to learn safety techniques. Bike rodeos are recommended for children ages 4 to 13. Bicycles and striders will be provided. Children can come anytime and go through the course as many times as they like!
The event is completely free.

Participating businesses will be marked by a gold balloon at their entrances.  Free parking during the evenings will make it easy for families and visitors to come enjoy Golden Weekends.

Make a Difference, Drive for Seniors!

This volunteer opportunity is available through Seniors' Resource Center.  Volunteer drivers do so much more than provide rides for seniors in the community; they build friendships, and rewards go both ways. Even if it's just for an hour or two, the gesture speaks volumes.  If you would like to volunteer, contact Pat Pierson at 303-332-3840 or PPierson@SRCaging.org.
Pay your sales and use taxes online

In addition to paying your water bill online and some municipal court citations, another online payment service is now available!

Businesses can now pay  City of Golden sales and use taxes online. Businesses will need to have their City of Golden sales tax account number and the last amount paid.

Please contact 303-384-8024 or  salestax@cityofgolden.net for additional information.
