What movie would you like to see this August?

Every summer the City of Golden hosts four fun Fridays in August encouraging the community to gather in Parfet Park, enjoy some live music and then settle in for the screening of a popular movie on a huge, inflatable screen. Always before, City staff has carefully selected the movies to be screened for Movies & Music in the Park, but this year we want to hear from you!

We have three movies already in the lineup (to be revealed later), but we want you to vote for the fourth movie. We have narrowed it down to four choices -- now it's up to you to vote on the winner. Voting will be open through the middle of April at GuidingGolden.com. We can't wait to see what you pick!

While you're there, check out the other conversations happening at GuidingGolden.com. Two new projects were added last week - the Golden History Museum wants to hear your thoughts on museum programming, and the Finance Department wants your input on the 2019-2020 budget.

Keep reading for other news on what's happening in Golden, and have a great week!

Concrete Replacement Program

The City's Concrete Replacement program is underway by contractor Fasick. The work consists of replacing damaged, deficient concrete and trip hazards. ADA improvements are also addressed through the course of the work. Following is a list of streets in various stages of construction and clean-up:

2018 Concrete Replacement Schedule
Lane and Sidewalk Closures on Ford

There will be a construction fence up surrounding a project at 19th and Ford until mid-April.
Expect lane closures on 19th and Ford for the installation of new sidewalks. The length of the project is weather-dependent.
CDOT Rockfall Mitigation Project on US 6/Clear Creek Canyon

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and contractor partner Apex Rockfall Mitigation has begun rockfall mitigation work on US 6/Clear Creek Canyon between Colorado Highway (CO) 93/CO 58 and CO 119 from mile marker 260 to 272 in Jefferson and Clear Creek Counties.

In order to protect the safety of crews working on the project and the traveling public, daytime full closures of US 6/Clear Creek Canyon between CO 93/CO 58 and CO 119 must be conducted as rockfall mitigation cannot be done at night.

Motorists can expect daytime full closures of eastbound and westbound US 6/Clear Creek Canyon, Monday through Thursday, through the end of April with work hours as follows:
  • Monday through Wednesday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Thursday: 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
During this time, there will be no parking or access for recreation use. Motorists can use I-70 as an alternate route during construction hours.
Leak Detection Project

Golden Utilities crews are doing a leak-detection project on water mains in the Mountain Ridge area. Data will be collected and evaluated by the end of the month.
Gas Mains Replacement

Xcel Energy is replacing old gas mains on North Ford Street from 1st Street to Texas Street.  Patches made by the contractor are temporary. As soon as the contractor is done, the road will be repaired.  For questions, please contact Xcel directly at 800-895-4999. They are also repairing main leaks between 1st and 5th streets.
Heritage Road at Apex Gulch work

The City of Golden continues construction to replace the culvert beneath Heritage Road at Apex Gulch.

Please download the map below for location and detours.  Construction began January 17, and should last a total of about 3 months, weather dependent. Local access to Colfax is by detour using 4th and Zeta.
