Two New Restaurants Open Downtown
Quarter Barrel Brewery & Pub and Basil 1791 both opened in early 2018
Two new restaurants opened in downtown Hamilton in early 2018: Basil 1791 and Quarter Barrel Brewery & Pub.
Basil 1791, which serves pan-Asian cuisine with an American twist, opened on January 10 at 241 High Street. Across the river, Quarter Barrel opened the following week.
Quarter Barrel serves clever pub plates, microbrewed draft beer, and unique cocktails, and will open their rooftop patio overlooking the Great Miami River once weather permits.
These are only the first two of several new restaurants opening in Hamilton in 2018. Tano's Bistro, The Casual Pint, Roll On In, Rise N Shine, and Alexander's Market & Deli are all expected to open in the coming months. These food options, along with nightlife activity offered by Plaza One Grille, Municipal Brew Works, and North Second Tap and Bottle Shop, are helping make Hamilton an attractive place to come for an evening out for both residents and visitors.

Economic Development Annual Report Released
The 2017 Annual Report details the progress we are making toward Hamilton's redevelopment goals
At the beginning of every year, the City of Hamilton's Economic Development Department releases an Annual Report highlighting the previous year's achievements. In 2017, we saw the Marcum Apartments break ground, and there were more than a dozen new small businesses that opened up downtown. Many of our companies are growing faster than ever, and our public electric utility system was recognized with the Reliable Public Power Provider's Diamond status for its reliability. Hamilton Mill Launches 2018 Pipeline H2O Class
The second class of Pipeline H2O participants is made up of seven startups
Pipeline H2O, a water technology commercialization platform at the Hamilton Mill which launched in early 2017, is now running its second cohort of member companies. The following companies are part of the 2018 class:
These seven startups, chosen from more than 80 applicants across the world, represent the very best companies working in the field of water technology today. The Pipeline Program began in February and will run through May, culminating in a Demo Day on Thursday, May 24 at Union Hall in Cincinnati.

German Village Hosts Business Symposium
Event focused on the abundant opportunities in historic German Village
On Monday, February 19, more than 30 community leaders, city staff, local business owners, and individuals interested in potentially investing in Hamilton came together for an afternoon hosted by Hamilton's Historic German Village Association. The event included presentations on Hamilton's recent growth and downtown revitalization as well as the outlook on continued business growth over the next several years. The main focus of the evening was opportunities for new or expanding businesses to locate in Hamilton's historic German Village neighborhood, an area that recently saw a $2.6 million investment in the new Third Street Plaza. The event concluded with a walking tour of several properties that are currently available for lease or sale within German Village.

New Main Street Businesses Open
Rustic Home and Dance2Fit opened their doors in early 2018
The Main Street Business District welcomed several new storefronts in early 2018.
Rustic Home, which sells up-cycled home decor items, was previously co-located in a space with Sherry's Petals at 119 Main Street, but now has its own storefront at 330 Main. They celebrated their ribbon cutting on February 15.
Dance2Fit with Sylvia is a fitness studio that offers a wide variety of dance classes for people of any fitness level and dance ability. Fruition Salon opened its doors at 10 S. D Street in March, and Secretly Shabby held a ribbon cutting on March 23 to celebrate the expansion of their business into a second floor addition called Lisa's Loft.

EPIC Events for Local Young Professionals
Chamber of Commerce's "Engaging Professionals Inspiring Change" program is a place for young professionals to come together
The Greater Hamilton Chamber of Commerce recently restarted its Engaging Professionals Inspiring Change Young Professionals (EPIC YP) program. EPIC YP meets on the third Wednesday of every month at varying locations throughout downtown Hamilton.
