Hemet Police Department Launches Fourth Citizens Academy

September 14th marked the first day of the Hemet Police Department’s Fourth Citizens Academy. The Citizens Academy, Hemet PD's flagship community outreach program, is a ten-week program that invites Hemet residents and business owners to learn all about the Hemet Police Department while hearing from the officers whom they would actually encounter in the field—the first two weeks of this academy brought presentations from the Gang Task Force and School Resource Officers.

Academy participants also took a tour of the Hemet Police Department and received an inside look at a police vehicle to include an explanation of all the equipment a Hemet Police Officer carries with them. This program has proven to effectively promote collaboration and partnerships between the police department and the community we serve.

City's Dedicated Crews Maintain Parks, Combat Weeds, and Beautify Streetscapes

The City's Parks Crew and Heartland Crew continue to work to keep the City's lush green spaces healthy and vibrant by keeping them free of overgrowth, graffiti, and litter. Staff employs various methods such as spraying, manual weed pulling, and precision weed whacking, all in an effort to maintain our parks for the coming months.

Notably, the tree trimming crew has been working hard, making significant contributions to the City's urban forestry. They have trimmed 107 trees, removed five dead ones, cleared away eight fallen branches, and successfully ground down 57 stumps.
