Energy Efficiency Webinar Recap
This week, the City, North Shore Gas, and the Power Bureau, LLC hosted a webinar on energy efficiency upgrade opportunities, incentives, and funding, as well as the City's new community solar program.

As part of the City's Sustainability Plan, the City has a goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 5% by 2023. Because natural gas usage is one of the primary contributors to Highland Park's greenhouse gas emissions, the City partnered with the North Shore Gas Energy Efficiency Program to highlight opportunities for individuals and business owners to make their homes and businesses more energy-efficient. North Shore Gas provided an overview of its free, personalized home energy assessment program and no- and low-cost energy-saving opportunities for business customers.

A presentation was also given on the City's community solar program. The program allows residents and small businesses to subscribe to solar power and receive electricity supply cost savings without the need to install solar panels on-site.

Visit cityhpil.com/energywebinar to view the recording and download the slides.
Rental Registrations Due April 1
All residential rental property owners are required to register their units with the City by April 1 each year. This information assists the City in its delivery of emergency and code enforcement services.

Beginning this year, the registration requirement now applies to all rental properties, regardless of the length of the lease period. As a result, short-term rentals are now part of the rental registration program. A mass mailing will be sent to all property owners regarding this important change.

Renewal notices have been mailed to those who registered a property last year.

Please contact the Community Development Department at 847.432.0808 with any questions.
