City begins Neighborhood Repaving program
This spring, the Johns Creek Public Works Department launched its sixth year of repaving the city’s neighborhood streets.

Gov. Brian Kemp's message on state-wide shelter-in-place order
Gov. Brian Kemp's executive order includes:

  • The Shelter in Place order for most Georgians expired at 11:59 p.m. April 30. Vulnerable populations (medically fragile and elderly Georgians) must shelter in place through June 12, 2020. 
  • Georgians are still encouraged to stay home as much as possible.
  • The declaration of the public health state of emergency has been extended through June 12, 2020.
  • Businesses must continue to enforce strict social distancing and sanitation rules as ordered previously through May 13, 2020.

Georgia Presidential Primary Election moved to June 9
Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has announced the postponing of the Statewide General Primary/Presidential Preference Primary Election until June 9, 2020.

City announces 'Share Joy' campaign winners
Congratulations to the winners of our "Share Joy" campaign! The campaign grew from a desire to promote positivity in our community during this time. Participants shared what brings them joy through visual art pieces.

Winners include:
Elementary School Level: Eloise Hecox, grade 3 – “Super Spring”
Middle School Level: Sophia Horback, grade 7 - "Peaceful Forest"
High School Level: Macy Fetner, grade 9 - "Small Things"

Outdoor Burn Ban runs May 1 - Sept. 30
A state-mandated burn ban on all outdoor burning is in effect from May 1 through Sept. 30. The Georgia Environmental Protection Division imposes the ban to comply with Federal Clean Air Regulations.

Be safe, check water release schedule before entering the Chattahoochee River
When the Corps of Engineers releases water from Lake Lanier, the resulting surge of water can cause the river to rise several feet in a short amount of time.

Fishing pier opens at Shakerag Park
Cast a line off the brand-new fishing pier at Shakerag Park! The new pier is open for use - but please remember to practice social distancing (keep a 6-foot distance between you and others).

Autrey Mill Nature Preserve offers a variety of summer camps for ages 4-13.

From road widening to landscaping projects, Johns Creek Public Works and Recreation & Parks crews have been working on a variety of projects throughout the last several weeks. During this time, crews have been practicing social distancing. For more information on projects, visit the city website .
Did You Know?
Some waste haulers may not be picking up garbage by hand during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please be aware if the garbage doesn’t fit in your trash receptacle that’s picked up by the hauler machinery, it may not be picked up during this time. Please check with your waste hauler if you have specific questions.

The City of Johns Creek has a list of private-sector solid waste/garbage haulers on the city website .
