REFURBISHED TRASH BINS
The Fashion District Clean Team recently refurbished and branded 163 trash receptacles throughout the district. Most trash bins, with the exception of the newer trash bins along Los Angeles Street, received a fresh coat of black paint and refurbished placards with the colorful new LA Fashion District logo. On average, the Clean Team collects between 21-22,000 pounds of trash every single day.
MITCHELL SETTLEMENT
On Wednesday, March 6th, the Los Angeles City Council voted 10-2 in favor to settle a three-year-old lawsuit,  Mitchell v. City of Los Angeles , filed by four homeless residents who claimed that police officers had confiscated and destroyed their personal possessions. The terms of the agreement have not been released, but by settling the lawsuit, an injunction issued in 2016 that prevents police and city workers from confiscating possessions of homeless residents without notice in the Skid Row area will remain in place.

SIDEWALK VENDING
On Wednesday, November 28th, 2018, the Los Angeles City Council voted 14-0 in favor to adopt Ordinance No. 185900, which made vending on sidewalks and in public parks fully legal as of January 1st, 2019. For Calendar Year 2019, sidewalk vendors do not need to obtain a permit to operate, but should adhere to LA City Council’s adopted rules governing sidewalk vending. Sidewalk vendors in violation of governing rules are subject to administrative fines. For more information about LA’s Sidewalk Vending Program, the Ordinance and Rules, please visit the StreetsLA Sidewalk Vending page.

DOCKLESS SCOOTERS
The City of Los Angeles’ Department of Transportation (LADOT) awarded one-year permits to three different scooter companies (Bird, Lime, and Spin) to operate in Downtown LA as of Friday, March 29th. LADOT has designated special “Drop Zones” throughout DTLA, where riders are encouraged to park. Improperly parked scooters should be reported using the city’s  311 system. For more information, scooter rules and FAQs, please visit  LADOT’s Dockless Mobility page.
