A Message From Mayor Garcia on How to Support Local Businesses on Small Business Saturday
Small Business Saturday is an important annual event that supports small businesses
throughout the country. This year’s Small Business Saturday is happening on Saturday, November 28th, the day after Black Friday.

Small businesses account for over 99% of total businesses in the United States and created 1.8 million new jobs, according to a 2019 report by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Small businesses are an important essential part of Long Beach, and we are strongly encouraging the community to do everything they can to support them, especially this year, which has been an incredibly tough and challenging one.

The community is encouraged to do their holiday shopping, by shopping small and local this holiday season. InsideLB shares an Article on Four Ways You Can Support Small Businesses.

Long Beach has some truly amazing fantastic small businesses. Everything from great eateries to local retail shops. Whether one shops in North Long Beach, Fourth Street, Belmont Shore, Bixby Knolls, Cambodia Town, Wrigley, or somewhere else in the City, they are likely to to encounter an amazing small business shop. Some ways we are encouraging participation in this year’s Small Business Saturday is by customers purchasing gift cards and ordering-in locally.

The City has multiple grant and loan programs available for small businesses.

The City of Long Beach will continue to monitor data and consult with Los Angeles County on any possible future restrictions to the Safer at Home Health Order.
